I watched this disc last night, and I don't hate this transfer. In fact, I thought it looked pretty good overall. Nice usage of HDR (very similar to how it was applied to the first film), and the colors had a nice pop to them, with reds, yellows, blues, and greens looking the best IMO.
As is with older vfx shots, you do have some bad looking shots here and there, but I suspect that it's all down to the source materials used, as overall, it looks quite good IMO. It's not perfect, no, but not what I consider a disaster either. As such, like the original ED 4k, this will become my go-to version to watch. I have the code from the BBY steelbook up for trade, if anyone is interested. ![]() |

I bought the 2 pack steelbook from Best Buy the other day and Evil Dead 2 UHD disc won’t play. I get a white screen, or the screen shows what I played last on my player. Best Buy couldn’t do anything to help me out. Does anyone have any advice? I was going to contact Lionsgate next.

For those that own the U.K. Studio Canal release, does it have Dolby Vision? The specs for Evil Dead released by Sony U.K. state it has Dolby Vision yet here on the forum they said it does not. Was wondering if this is the case for the sequel?

Just watched both Evil Dead 1 and 2 last night in 4k. Evil Dead 2 looks pretty great to me (although I am far from an expert). I am glad I bought this in particular - I remember watching it on VHS and laughing all the way through it - forgot how much I enjoyed this film.
Hope to check out Zombie tonight - i did a quick comparison with the Arrow blu ray and it looks like a significant improvement. It is so weird that years ago it was almost impossible to see Evil Dead and Zombie uncut in the UK, then you could watch them with cuts and now you can pick up uncut Evil Dead up in the shops and in 4K too. |

So, I bought this way back in February and was waiting for the right time to sit down and watch the whole show. (I know this movie backwards and forwards so I wasn't in a hurry. And just attended the Evil Dead exhibit at The Mystic Museum last weekend.) And surprise! I had none of the issues I had before when I first popped it in to look at a couple of scenes. No issues with the receiver getting confused and switching inputs. I paused the disc a couple of times just to check and it resumed without a hitch. Weird. Between this and a subtitle issue I had only one time on Bram Stoker's Dracula, I'm wondering if I got a glitchy player- I picked it up on Ebay- but I haven't had any other issues at all and I think I've played something at least every other day since getting it last November.
As to Evil Dead 2- I like how it looks and was impressed most of the time, but there were one or two shots where Annie and Bobbi Jo's make-up popped so much that I wondered if this was what Sam Raimi intended. To be fair, when I say I know this movie backwards and forwards, it's because of watching on VHS and DVD, then different DVD, then Blu-ray, then different Blu-ray, and now this UHD. And I know many 4k discs are giving us something that looks better than what we saw in theaters- or at least something different- and it's complicating my feels all over the place.
