Got my BB steelbook in yesterday's mail and watched the film last night (I'd skipped seeing it in theaters because I knew I'd get the 4K disk). This disc is absolutely top notch and a perfect example of how 4K + Dolby Vision can make a film shine. I was most taken with shots of near absolute darkness and the glowing eyes of Pennywise. Man, those shots really pop. Even more impressive is the Dolby Atmos playback (which is NOT the default audio selection, BTW). Scenes in the Diebolt house make you feel as if you're actually there, that's how immersive the sound field is on the Atmos track.

Big thumbs up for this.

extended!? yikes lol. This movie is already 30min+ too long. It also hastily skips past any initial connections and friendships the kids might have had which I find makes the narrative strangely awkward. Mike, for instance, has almost no link to the other kids.

I can't imagine watching an extended version.

Definitely not too long. Looking forward to the directors cut.

You mention that you think it's too long, but then mention that you think it hastily skips showing how the kids were initially connected. What do you think should have been cut out if you are complaining about things that it didn't show?

The point is the movie is long but yet it glosses over a lot of the initial setup and world-building.

Havn't you guys seen the original IT? I feel like that movie was like 6 hours long lol. Although it was good, it just felt like it went on FOREVER. So this movie in comparison to me, felt short. I would gladly welcome an extended version that fleshed out the story and characters more.

Me too. If that's what the extended scenes included.

However, judging from the tone of the movie I would guess that the extra content is composed of more eerie scenes and jump scares. Anyone care to comment on the content of the extended scenes?

I just was just getting ready to post my thoughts on the picture quality, as I received it and watched it last night as well. But you pretty much summed up my thoughts on this. Great PQ.

Of the scenes cut, there’s some character building and world building stuff. In particular, I think they cut out the Black Hole Fire flashback which has been moved to Part 2. A scene cut from the script that they’re moving to Part 2 is Pennywise’s first encounter with humans. I’ll try looking for some articles that mention more. I think early screenings also had more on Mike and Stanley who got the short end of the stick.

IIRC the Black Hole Fire was never filmed. The director always intended it to be a flashback in Part Two (so he could film it with the higher budget and do it justice).

Whenever Amazon ships a package via courier there's almost always an issue. I don't know if I should complain to customer service or just suck it up. They're not living up to the service guarantees for Prime members.

It took 2.5 days for my copy to move. Never seen it take that long before.

This is one of the best 4k movie presentations I’ve seen....I’ve seen about 70% -80% of what’s been released on 4k disc!

That's because it was a mini-series and it covered the entire book, when they were young and then when they are adults.

This movie only covers like half of the book, the sequel is going to cover the other half of it (when they are adults).
