^Pretty much. I hoped for, but didn't expect such a definitive package.

I also hope for UHD-100 disc.

WB? Dolby Vision? Paging Mr. Banderas... Paging Mr. Banderas...

Anxious to see what it's going to look like this time with a DoP-supervised transfer. No doubt there will still be some moaning and probably some regrade projects, but I have a good feeling about this one.

The HDR10+ version is in there...but you have to be The One to see it.

Yessssssss

This is the only May release I'm picking up day one since JP is not coming standalone.

I'll probably get a few of the others for BF if I can wait that long.

Warner has been trying for years to continue the franchise but I don't believe they have any grand measure of how popular it may or may not have remained over the years, so I bet they'll be looking closely at the sales numbers for this to justify doing the same for the sequels and even continuing the franchise. They're doing this ultimate Blu-ray release, sure, but they'll also be pushing it digitally too. This isn't niche, they want to see the numbers.

I hope it sells as well as it needs to.

I hope Bill Pope isn't just a marketing ploy and he was involved in meaningful amount.

Yeah, that makes sense. Gonna try to get this day one so I'll be doing my part.

I don't need more new Matrix movies, though. Like, I get HOW they can do them, and I get why they'd wanna make more. But I don't need to see yet another version of the Matrix. I don't need to see Morpheus Begins starring Baby Creed. I liked the sequels but they were enough.

It's a beautiful playground that nobody else has been able to play in yet. I'd give a fresh take a chance but I'm not yearning for it, especially given The Wachowski's own compelling and completed epic.

TBH I'm very glad that they're even mentioning this sort of thing though, for if there's one thing that the indies have done for us it's really highlighting that kind of "new transfer supervised by x" aspect of these releases. People are actually looking out for that shit now.

I get that you're very trepidatious after dem Nolans and I still think that Warners will do their usual bit of filtering to it, but coming off the neg should help to alleviate that and, if anything, I'm just glad that we're getting ANOTHER shot at having this movie done justice on home video. If they balls it up then they balls it up, I'll be gutted but hey, that's life.

But just having another opportunity thanks to this UHD format is why I continue to be so excited about where UHD can take us, all those 2K upscales sold mean that stuff like this - going back to the neg for a 4K workup - on films that truly matter is made that much more viable for the studios.

The way things are going now, we'd get over-serialized stories with PG-13 action and a lighter tone. One franchise doing it (because they figured it out on their own and deserve all the credit that they get) is fine. Every franchise turning that way, especially one like this which was never meant to be, is annoying.

Even if the new Blu-ray is exclusive to the 4K release, they'll get my money. If only other studios did the same...

Would be hilarious to have some sort of Cloverfield/Unbreakable sequel, where it's some completely unrelated suspenseful drama then in the last ten minutes the reveal that it's all in the Matrix and an original character(s) appears! Actually that would suck.
