I would love to see this cover art which is on my original movie program. This pic is not my actual program though, just did a quick web search of the image.

Dang; the picture of the cover won't show on my work computer.

I always liked the cover of the VHS I had as a kid.

Little known factoid: Lex Luthor's Control Room set pieces were recycled from Star Wars, where they served as part of the Death Star sets. Production designer John Barry worked on both films.

I always prefered Bob Peak's beautiful posters for the film, which were rarely used for home video releases.

Seriously! I hope they stabilize the opening titles.

As we get closer and closer to the rerelease, I would now like to share with you what I shared with dictin last year—a projection on what a 40th anniversary edition might contain...

UHD Disc:
—New 4K film transfer of the original 143-minute theatrical version from the original film elements
—Restored 4.1 surround track mastered from the original 70mm six-track stereo theatrical mix
—5.1 surround track created from the 2000 sound mix

BLU RAY Disc 1:
—New 4K film transfer of the original 143-minute theatrical version from the original film elements
—2005 audio commentary from Executive Producer Ilya Salkind and Associate Producer Pierre Spengler
—“The Making of Superman: The Movie”, original made for television featurette on the making of the film
—“The Adventures of Superman”: “Superman On Earth”, original 1951 pilot episode to the classic television series (first time in HD)

BLU RAY Disc 2:
—2K film transfer of the 151-minute Director’s Restoration from 2000
—2001 audio commentary with Director Richard Donner and Creative Consultant Tom Mankiewicz
—“Superman’s 50th Anniversary”, a 1988 “Saturday Night Live”-produced TV special celebrating 50 years of the Man of Steel, hosted by Dana Carvey
—“Superman”, classic 1940 Max Fleischer cartoon that introduced the Man of Steel to the big screen (first official release in HD from the Warner Bros. Animation archive)

BLU RAY Disc 3:
—2K HD transfer of the 188-minute extended international television version, constructed from all available elements
—uncompressed monaural soundtrack as originally broadcast
—New 7.1 surround soundtrack based on the original 1978 sound mix, prepared especially for this release
(This could include a new commentary track in part by you, and/or producer Ilya Salkind and other surviving cast & crew members)
—TV introductions from the ABC telecasts
(A possible tribute piece on Christopher Reeve could fit here too, as well as a new featurette on the various versions of the film)

BLU RAY Disc 4:
(Here it would include a newly produced documentary on the film’s legacy, incorporating the various featurettes previously issued on blu ray and DVD, a complete set of theatrical teasers, trailers, and TV spots (with some never before issued on hone video), photo and publicity galleries, newly discovered outtakes, a reconstruction of the original cliffhanger ending leading to SUPERMAN II, archival interviews with the film’s cast, and clips from throughout Superman’s history).

Let us hope for the best on this issue.

The 4k version has Dolby Atmos. Though, we don't know if WB is just including the theatrical or both that and the extended cut.

No offense but who are you and why should anyone lend any credence to this?

It's a wish/guess list. I have made a few of those myself. I just didn't post them.
