Geoffrey, baby, I'm begging you to check out Halloween III. It's so good!

Just the first 3 for me. But I really recommend Halloween III. If you like 70’s/80’s John Carpenter films (which I know you do), you would almost certainly dig it. Cool synth score too.

We're hoping for an announcement regarding the final list of extras for H1-H5.

I didn't realize how important the mask and actors who play the Shape were until the sequels came along.

When Halloween IV was announced, I was ecstatic and when I went to the theatre to watch it, I definitely had lift off. Then the second that Michael first appeared on screen I lost my boner.

They never could get the mask to look right (lawsuits and such I know), and with all due respect to the people who played the Shape in the 4-8 sequels, they couldn't hold a candle to Castle and Warlock.

That's wild! You never had ANY interest in checking out each film at least once?

The only franchise I haven't been able to get through is Hellraiser. I love the first two, and aside from Inferno, that's all I've seen from that franchise. I tried watching III once and it was too freaking boring to get through (and the drastic drop in quality -- seemed like a TV movie and not a theatrical movie) so I shut it off. I've had no interest in trying to watch anything after II.

But the Halloween franchise is definitely not as bad as the Hellraiser franchise (from 3 on, I've heard). It would definitely be cool to have you watch each film and then get your opinion on them. Please?

The mask is everything. The sequels (outside of 2) never got it right. It's just comes across as a guy in a goofy Halloween mask. Michael doesn't have the presence as being the Shape and otherworldly like the first two.

I've always loved the part 2 mask and it shocked me to find out it was the same one from the first movie. Just dingy and not taken care of. Also, Dick Warlock's head filled the mask differently. It looked so different that I always thought it was a new mask.

I do think the 2018 movie gets the mask mostly right and feels like how the original would have looked after all of these years.

Eh, I’m just not a horror guy. Jason, Freddy, Michael, them thar Cenobites, I can count the amount of movies I’ve watched from those franchises on one hand.

I’ve always liked the H6 mask. It looks slightly like the original and is also pretty creepy. None of the others (besides the H18 mask) look menacing enough in my opinion.

Since Dick Warlock has a wider head than Nick Castle, I always thought the mask in H2 looked way more like William Shatner than it did in H1. When I watch Star Trek TOS, Kirk’s face frequently reminds me of H2 Myers.

After this new Halloween trilogy is over they should just hire William Shatner to play Michael Myers. All they’d need to do is paint his face white.

I love the masks, and by masks I mean ‘78 and ‘18. I’m amassing a collection of them myself. I currently have three: ‘78, ‘18, and a Kills prototype based off of early screenshots. I have two more on order too.

Someone from Scream Factory (Cliff, I think) said that the extras would be announced first week of August. This was before the release dates got pushed back, however

That's what I say to people about Halloween III. It just has that feel of Carpenter films of the period. The overall feel of the film fits more with something like The Fog.

Halloween III also has one of Carpenter’s best scores. “Chariots of Pumpkins” and “Drive to Santa Mira” are my favorite tracks but the entire score is magnificent. I can see why some people rank it as their favorite sequel in the franchise (I’m considering it). It’s creepy, has a batsh*t insane story, awesome practical effects, great cinematography from Cundey, and a fantastic subdued performance by Dan O’Herlihy. I also like that it was directed by Tommy Lee Wallace, the production designer and one of the editors of Halloween, as well as the man responsible for finding the Captain Kirk mask and modifying into the Myers mask.

This is why I especially could never get into IV. I know most people like it, but every time Myers appears on the screen it takes me out of the movie. The mask looks ridiculous, and he basically looks like a mannequin with shoulder pads. Hard to enjoy the movie when he looks so bad.

The H6 T-Cut mask is my favorite mask of the entire franchise. Even over H1. I find it to be the legit scariest.

I used to HATE the H4 mask. Back around 1997 I considered it the worst mask of them all (at that point only 1-6 existed). But over the years it's grown on my quite a lot. Now it's my #3 favorite mask of all the films.

#1: H6
#2: H1/HII (tied/same mask)
#3: H4
