Yeah, there was a Best Buy exclusive DVD release back in 2006. I have it myself, and it's actually pretty substantial and worth owning. Here's a list of the featurettes:

• "The Hunt is On" (12m, 4:3)
• "The Countdown Begins" (20m, 4:3)
• "Evolution of a Blockbuster" (22m, 4:3)
• "Designing the Mission" (10m, 16:9)

It's 4.12GB, so yes it's a DVD-5. Considering that it only holds ~65 minutes of video and uses Dolby 2.0 audio that's more than sufficient.

That said, if you want the most complete collection of bonus features for the 5 movies to date you need the following releases:

Mission Impossible 1: all editions to date are identical single-disc releases
Mission Impossible 2: all editions to date are identical single-disc releases
Mission Impossible 3: 2-BD "Collector's Edition" from 2006 + Best Buy exclusive DVD
Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol: Best Buy exclusive 3-disc set (2-BD + DVD + Digital)
Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation: Target exclusive "Impossible Stunts Edition" (2-BD + DVD + Digital + Booklet)

I've the first two and last two in those editions. Just have the 2-Disc for Mission: Impossible 3. Even the HD DVDs for the first 3 too.

Hoping there's a boxset for all five. The only one I'm not super fond of is Ghost Protocol, but all have their moments and each has at least one really good action set-piece.

4&5 are a measure above the rest of the series but I still have an affinity for all of them. The audio has needed to be fixed for too long.

Actually, given the quality(or lack thereof) of the transfers for Divergent and Insurgent, they probably shouldn't be good enough.

I’ve got the Scandinavian box set of the first three. All of them have DTS 5.1 HD MA and new video encodes in MPEG 4 rather than MPEG 2. They look and sound much better than the US and U.K. box sets. Unfortunately it doesn’t have the 2nd disc of extras for three, but it’s still a much better box set overall.

I kept my 2nd disc from the U.K. standalone M;I 3 and put it in the box set. I’ve also got the BB and Asda exclusive bonus disc aswell. Wonder if a 4k boxset will be released with all existing extras when Fallout goes into cinemas?

If my memory serves, Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation look gorgeous on BD. If there is even a tinge of an upgrade, they will be marvelous!

Does the third one has HD audio though? I thought all European editions had lossy audio?
