The best news I've heard all day!
I wonder if it's Lionsgate distributing it since they own the Starz/Anchor Bay library now.

There are some who claim he doesn't really exist, yet there are other who say the lesser-spotted GeoffyD prowls the fields of Swanage at night, hungry for 35mm film. Some say that his first name really is “The”, and that if he went on Celebrity Love Island they’d all be pregnant, including the camera men. All we know is ... he’s called GeoffD.

Lionsgate, please include both aspect ratios and the original mono mix ta.

Also I know this will never happen but I'd love to have the option to watch the original unaltered version as well.

Raped in hatred by vines of thorn!

God, I can’t wait for this fall!

Halloween AND Evil Dead in the same year?! UHD is really starting to get those wheels churning.

Nice! Hopefully I can finally retire my 3 disk ultimate edition DVD. I have a steelbook, but it was single disk only, so I've had to hold onto this set for like a decade to keep the excellent features suite.

Hard to believe that after the Nolan Collection released in December there were those who claimed that the format had peaked and that 2018 would be the beginning of the end for UHD.

Many are still trying to convince themselves that its the new Laserdisc or it won’t last. They’re hoping for the format will fail because they don’t want to upgrade. I think it’s safe to say this fall and holiday season will see a big push for the format. Friends of mine who just last fall were saying there isn’t enough content are telling they want to upgrade now.

Dudes, when we're getting Evil Dead, Evil Dead II and Halloween on 4K then you know that studios think this format ain't playing games. (Well, apart from Disney but they stopped giving a shit a loooooong time ago.)

I’m too impatient for all these new releases. Can’t we just have them all right now?

It'll be very interesting to see what this'll look like with a HDR pass.

Let's face it, detailwise there won't be much difference due to the way it was shot so the HDR is the main draw here.

I really can’t believe we’re this far into the 4K game and people are STILL trying to make the bogus claim that “detail won’t be much better than the Blu-ray.”

You know this was shot on 16mm, right? While there are several reasons why the 4K disc could still be a nice lickle upgrade to the 1080p, a massive upgrade in spatial detail is not going to be one of them (unless the BD itself was severely filtered but I doubt that was the case).

You should’ve seen the dolts I was dealing with on the official Halloween Facebook page, when they announced the 4K blu-ray.

”But this wasn’t even shot at 4K! This is just a gimmick! What is HDR! Sounds made up!”

In a way—and I mean, in a very small way—I do understand the apprehensiveness of studios wanting to keep committing to physical media formats, when the general consumer sounds like a complete dunce.

How do you sell your product to people that no longer take time to research anything, despite having unlimited resources to do so. It’s hularious.

I'm all for enlightening the eejits Sweetie (trust me, the general consumer knows less than zero and always has), but this is not such an occasion re: TFD's comments.

I do, but I simply don’t buy that 16mm doesn’t contain enough detail to discern a noticeable difference between 1080p and 2160p. This argument has been made over and over about so many movies on this forum, and outside of botched transfers, I just have not seen any evidence to support it.
