To be fair, your post criticizing the film wasn’t particularly constructive. Feel free to share your thoughts. But you pretty much left yourself open when you asked “what am I missing?” The movie was met with near universal acclaim and there are plenty of positive impressions in this very thread. It’s not hard to find out what people liked about it if you put in a little effort.

It's perfectly okay not to like it, but you didn't state reasons you didn't, did you? So he didn't state reasons why he/we did.

There's 29 pages of this thread prior that have people's extensive thoughts of the movie, good and bad, so you could have tried there before asking a generalized question like, "what am I missing?"

A nail being snagged, later then used as a literal painful cringe-enducing moment, is the most ridiculous thing you focused on in the movie? How about BIG ALIEN MONSTERS? That's in your level of believability, but how a nail gets pulled up and then later stepped on is not?

It's the location and the fact the stair was nailed upside down from the bottom! The head didn't work its way out due to tread pressure over time and then allows it to be a clothes snag inducer, it was the END of the nail. What idiot nails a stair that way?? The writers were too lazy to come up with a better set up.


There are soooooooo many far-fetched moments that it literally changes its own rules of logic to suit certain big scenes. That's why it's not the end-all as critics and some audience members make it out to be.



It's a dumb monster movie...emphasis on dumb.



The Atmos track saves it.

Fair enough. I never intended my post to be constructive criticism. Just a simple post about me not liking it as much as others. It’ll take me some time and a rewatch before I could be more constructive about it.

I love the movie and I get why some didn't. You should watch the honest trailer of it. It's hilarious.

I have Dolby Vision equiptment, but when I borrowed the disc I assumed this title didn't have DV for some reason, and it was great with just HDR10 and of course Atmos.

Since “they were all standing there”, they were quiet and undetected. They weren’t making noise enough to alarm the monsters. Ya

First "plain sight" is meaningless..

[Show spoiler].the monsters are blind....so many instances of the monsters facing the humans in "plain sight"..whether they were in plain sight or hiding, it's irrelevant.

As the other member pointed out the louder noise of the toy would drown out all other noises.
