I got a shipping update as well and I see Amazon updated their cover to one without a slipcover.

^ That's disappointing indeed. Was hoping it would come with a slip. Might just put this off for a while.

My Amazon estimated delivery still reads as 17th August. I pre-ordered it as soon as it was announced, so I dunno if that's a thing. I assumed there'd be a slip. Kind of weird and disappointing that there isn't one. Couldn't really give a stuff about the booklet, tbh.

My Amazon order: "Arriving 24 Aug - 26 Aug".
Guess I'll be doing the opening/watching thing on the very same evening of the delivery day

I'm really tempted to put an order for this. I bet those night scenes (which is a lot!) would look absolutely amazing in Dolby. Ahhh, and this is the first movie where I discovered Vinny.

Got mine a couple of days ago. Great transfer. At first watching it on my 65” OLED wasn’t that impressed. Watching it on a big screen really showed how detailed it is and I completely changed my mind.

It’s in Dolby Vision and has both theatrical and director’s cut. Audio is DTS HD 5.1.

Lots of extras though haven’t checked them out yet.

Anyone getting this should be happy with the results.

What do people mean when they say "black crush"? I'd have thought that crushed blacks would've guaranteed deep inky blacks at the expense of shadow detail. Or is your definition of "crush" that it looks too grey and milky?

Yeah, I've always taken it to mean when blacks are so deep that shadow detail is wiped out. Like what happens if you set your levels to 0-255.

I feel like a film titled Pitch Black would have trouble living that issue down

This one always stood out to me in the old store where i'd rent movies as a kid but i was too scared to get it

I know vaguely about Riddick but that's it. Worth a blind buy? I love me some Diesel.

You say "Great Transfer." Then in the next sentence you were not that impressed with it on your 65" OLED. There are plenty of us with lesser equipment than a 65" OLED. Would you mind sharing what the room conditions were like when you saw it on your OLED? Also how far away do you did you sit from the OLED?
