What the last person said - thank you, thank you, thank you!!

It's a shame the mag for Halloween 4 is lost but happy to hear the one for Halloween 5 was available to be sourced. I'm excited to hear both films with their original soundtracks, it's been ages.

Scream Factory FTW!

This is such great news! The remixes on the old blu-rays were not good.

Well, they could get PJ Soles and Nancy Kyes together for a Halloween commentary track and a 'cast' commentary track for Halloween II with some of the actors who played Haddonfield Hospital staff members. Danielle Harris would probably be down to do a new commentary track for Return and Revenge since she's been doing video commentary tracks for her movies on Patreon.

(Note that this isn't in any way me complaining about the lack of new features; I'm glad Scream has included as much as they did. Just pointing out there were still some avenues that haven't been done for commentaries.)

The Broadcast TV cut is an edited-for-tv version that has the same handful of scenes added but some other moments are cut. It should be like watching the film on NBC in 1981.
Also worth noting that the television cut features some alternate takes of a few scenes as well (the one of Laurie screaming next to Lynda's body, for example.) Those weren't present in the extended cut and the only footage we have of them is from the TV broadcast.

The German release from NSM also includes that commentary track, if you'd rather watch it with an HD scan of the movie.

Thanks for tracking down the original stereo tracks, Cliff! It's greatly appreciated.

If you're able to disclose why, is there a particular reason the Alan B. McElroy track hasn't been brought over? It's an unfortunate less, imo, as it was a very informative track from the film

Probably the cheapest route is through Rarewaves:
https://www.rarewaves.com/products/9...-german-import

But here's the Amazon.de link:

I got to say Cliff, I'm very impressed with everything especially the work on the original Stereo mixes for H4 and 5.

Shame though the Criterion commentary couldn't be included (weird how Anchor Bay managed to get it included for their 25th AE DVD and 2007 Blu-ray respectively), but I guess we have to except it.

On a different format subject, I understand you're also re-releasing Halloween on DVD, will it have the new 4K transfer and any extras or is it a port of the THX Anchor Bay DVD? Also, are the Halloween 1, 4, and 5 home video rights with you now or does Lionsgate still own them (via Trancas) and if you do, can we expect DVDs of Halloween 4 and 5 down the line? I only ask this because I also buy DVDs as well as Blu-ray and you got to sometimes look out for the former.

Many thanks Cliff!

Yeah, I'd love to know what Anchor Bay said/did to license that commentary because Criterion licensing anything out is almost unheard of.

I believe cmac confirmed on the stream from July that they licensed all three directly from Trancis. Lionsgate only has the license for the two Rob Zombie movies through there acquisition of Lantern Entertainment.

They aren’t releasing it on DVD. Only 4K and blu-ray.

Apparently Nicholas Grabowsky recorded an interview for the Halloween 4 CE:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/attachment...0&d=1630348040

You think they forgot to mention that?

Is the mono on the original film the same as from the 2014 sets? I don't want it to look like I'm trying to find something to complain about but compared to the Criterion laserdisc the 2014 mono sounds badly filtered. I've already ordered all five sets either way and appreciate all you've done for these.

DVDs still sell and, especially around Halloween time, it's no surprise that stores would want something to put on the shelves, and Shout would want something cheap to produce to fill that need.

Theatrical and Extended Cut are 2.35. Extended cut is what Anchor Bay assembled in 2000 at 480p using the original unedited theatrical footage and added footage found in the TV presentation This was reassembled in 2016 by Scream for HD using SD elements for the added scenes.

This is the first time that the original TV version for Halloween has been available and this is a 1.33 aspect ratio. Halloween II’s TV version is also a 1.33 aspect. Both of these TV presentations have been edited for violence, language, and nudity.
