Let’s hope this new UHD is the best. Looks very promising 1999 THX is one of my favorite versions.

This is great news regarding the audio mix. I did post on Scream's FB page with a link to my mono audio comparison videos which had links to the audio itself to download. Maybe that had something to do with this turn of events. Or they had it all along and were just keeping mum to surprise us?

I'm now cautiously optimistic about this release, and do admit, the colors look nice from the screen-shots posted.

Haven’t been following this thread closely. I haven’t seen any of these but have the original in 4k.

Does this come out tomorrow? BB app says it does but Tyrok didn’t list it as releasing in stores. BB online says if I order today it will arrive on the 30th.

Where is everyone ordering from?

The 2018 UHD looks like garbage, really? That sounds like hyperbole to me, and to a pretty large degree. I'm not doubting that the new release could do better, but...

It is literally the single worst looking version of Halloween. Because it virtually looks nothing like Halloween. So yeah, it’s upsetting. The actual film prints I’ve seen over many years had very vivid blue throughout most night shots and very saturated faces. The actual film prints were not as warm looking as the 1999 THX disc, but that discs gets so much right, that the extra bit of warmth is tolerable.

The releases were delayed to October 5 a while ago, but some retailers are now reportedly showing October 11 as the date they'll be in stock.

Maybe they really did steal it from the LD and have been keeping quiet about it for legality reasons, to avoid fines and prison time. Though I maintain they do deserve incarceration for foisting that blasphemous new cover art on us.

LOL.

The 2003 Anchor Bay DiviMax DVD says hi.

This is the worst looking version of Halloween. Everyone hated the way this DVD looked. Completely drained of colour.

Damn Amazon is slowly updating them all to the 11th. Hopefully that’s an overestimate.

Not drained of color, way too full of color especially in the night scenes. The 2007 bluray was even brighter.

I preordered Halloween 1-5 UHD's, Alone in the Dark, and Elvira's Haunted Hills from DiabolikDVD on July 7th. My status changed from "preorder" to "AITD PA Orders".

Anyone else in the same boat? Lol

I don’t really have a problem with the cover art. All of them have the original art on the reverse, so I’ll be displaying them with those. I’ll keep the slipcases though, they’re kind of cute in a “kids horror book” way.

Yeah, they drained the blue tint out of the night scenes. That's what I meant when I said they drained the colour out of it.

Anyway, controversial colour timing in that version, to say the least.

I’d still watch the Divimax over the 2018 UHD. They probably forgot or didn’t wan’t to be arsed with all of the blue gels. Who knows what they telecined back in those days. If anyone is interested in what the actual 35mm prints looked like, just watch the very first LD release. Straight telecine of a print. The quality sucks, but it gives you an idea of what it should kind of look like. My favorite is still the THX. But this new UHD is probably going to be it

Yeah I seem to be the only one who actually likes the artwork on the slips for these

Nope I like them as well as do as a sh!t ton of people on facebook and twitter. At least the masks are screen accurate on these releases.

Yeah I also really don't mind the covers on these. They're a nice change from the floating heads we often get, plus yeah, they actually got the masks correct for each film. I'm definitely gonna flip the artwork on the inside cases but the covers on the outer slip box ain't bad at all.
