If you give a Blu-Ray dot come user a mono mix, they're going to ask for a mono mix. When you give them the mono mix, if any, they'll ask if it's lossless. If it isn't, even if it is decent and you didn't notice a problem until they brought it up, they'll beg for another 4K release...but buy this one anyways.

I watched with the mono mainly… I did check the other tracks occasionally. However, I’m not setup to take full advantage of the atmos track

To be fair to the reviewer, he never said the UHD used the Laserdisc audio, he simply said that to his ears, the mono on the UHD sounded *better* than it did on the previous Blu-rays that also had the mono track. And, if the mono track on the UHD- "filtered" as it may be- was encoded better this time around, it very well may sound better than it has previously, albeit not as good as the Laserdisc mono.

So I got lucky and found the new 4K at a Best Buy near me. Canceled my Amazon order of the first film, still gonna be all over the place for when I get the other 4. Who is gonna be the first one to sync the Laserdisc Mono to the new 4K. I would, but again, no portable 4K player

The Dolby Atmos mix is fantastic! The music and effects are far more spacious and dynamic, better than I've ever heard it sound before. Everything is blended well and feels more engaging. As far as the other mixes, I could care less. The only way I'll select an original mono mix is if it's the only sound option for a film. lol

The image quality is fantastic. It's superior to any other version, in my opinion.

This really upsets me, my Best Buy orders for this and part II are on back order, yet there’s like 6 stores in Illinois showing they have it in stock right now.

How about the revisionist foley effects? Still there or corrected to be more faithful?

The release date is still one full week away from today. Instead of getting yourself "really upset", just cancel your backorder and go pick them up in person if it's so important to you. Or, y'know, continue getting yourself worked up and "really upset" for literally no logical reason.

I swear, this thread and the Clockwork Orange 4K UHD thread are two of the most interminably whiny and eyeroll-inducing threads in these boards' recent history, which is saying a whole hell of a lot.

So I'm about 40-50 minutes into the film and so far the image looks great! Like it way more than the last 4K release, the image just pops more to me and I don't recall the image ever looking this sharp or more pristine. So very happy with that.

As for the audio, while I have to agree this sounds like the same filtered track we've had on past releases, it does seem that something was done to the track because it is loud, noticeably louder than the 2014 blu ray which I played a few minutes of before starting the new 4K. Perhaps Scream simply cranked the volume up on the track itselt (?).

I'll post more impressions if I have any but while it's disappointing that it seems that Scream didn't go back to the original mag tapes for a fresh pass at the original mono, the included track is serviceable.

They could have simply normalized it before encoding to DTS-HD MA. That could account for the difference if the old track was sufficiently quiet.
