Is it odd? It lets people know there is a new version of the blu-ray included; the recurring question that seems to pop up the most in here.

Yeah, as weird as it may be it's a pretty good sign of how confident Paramount are with the state of UHD at the moment. Heck, I might even get it myself once it hits a certain price point as I've got the Italian UHD which has the old BD and no extras disc at all. Could sell that and nab this one.

Maybe they've got their autoconvert gimp the SDR button figured out now and want to test drive it in the market. The other irony possibly being that it will result in a messed up, but less DNR'd SDR blu lol

It's Warners who've worn out the "gimp the SDR" button but yeah, it'll be interesting to see how Par handle it regardless.

On the other hand, what if they also silently remastered the UHD and included it here as well? And they keep their mouth shut about it because that would mean admitting there's something is wrong with the first one? Probably not, but one can dream

Yeah I'm gonna wait for the new release. Just read the review for the current 4k UHD and it sounds like a mess much like the Terminator 2 4k UHD. I hoping they are remastering the UHD and not only the bluray.

It's not a mess like T2. Massive upgrade over the outdated BD besides some DNR. You could still see loads of texture details in many shots but with grain structure fluctuating. Not going to please the purists but should please the forgiving viewers.

Yeah, nothing on Earth compares to T2 travesty... The previous release is pretty nice, with all its obvious flaws, but of course, it's in no way a perfect release, so an upgrade would always be welcomed.

Can you give us a little update on the pq when you get it? Probably, it's the same UHD disc, but just in case

Default 25th Anniversary

The 25th Anniversary Edition 4K UHD, ordered from Best Buy, arrived today already, 4 days ahead of release day May 7. I didn't have the previous 4K version so can't do a comparison. In fact this is upgrading from dvd so any improvements will be appreciated by me. It does mention that it includes newly re-mastered blu-ray. The digital code already shows as redeemable at Vudu (although I didn't so not sure what that amounts to).

So can you check if the UHD has DNR applied and how distracting it is?

My apologies for not scrolling thru all 39 pages....

Can someone tell me what the difference is in this release vs the 4K release I got months ago? Anything special other than a newly remastered BD disc?

Received mine this morning. I briefly skimmed the disc and the 4k appears to be the exact one in the previous release from 2018.

Of course it’s the same disc. It’s Paramount, king of the reissue.

My copy arrived yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised that the feather was embossed.
