Are those modern logos? Or 1978? I’ve never seen any logo at the beginning of the film, coming in before the opening music cue and the appearance of “Compass International”, which I’ve always considered part of the opening credits. Apart from that, there were only whichever logos were used by the video label releasing it (which in my history would have been Media Home Entertainment, Anchor Bay, and Scream Factory, I guess.) Who besides Scream Factory would put a logo before the start of the credits—Trancas?

Was it altered? Having music start over other logos, assuming you meant annoying logo jingles being too loud?

In addition to the Compass logo attached to the credit in the "Halloween font", there's now an addition modern animated Compass Logo... plus one other one. They're very off-putting when you're used to just hearing the iconic music kick in. No worries, though... just cue up to 35s before starting the movie or kicking on your receiver.

EDIT: Ahh yes, the other logo is Trancas.

Was also wondering if you listened to the Atmos mix and if the music has that horrible, tinny sound that’s on the 7.1.
The Lionsgate 4K has their logo at the beginning and not as a separate file. I hated that when I first watched it. I don't understand why they don't just have the logos as separate files and not add to the running time of the movie.

Sorry, I did not -- and won't ever -- listen to the 7.1.

I have an ATMOS setup so I'm really looking forward to hearing the ATMOS soundtrack on this release. It sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun.
LOL, no Laserdisc player any more, unfortunately. Though I do have a few discs laying around. I was just comparing the audio tracks on this disc.

I'm eager to hear what folks who actually have a full Atmos set-up think of it. One of the nice things about the technology that is often forgotten is how it isn't just a new codec - how everything on production end changed with object-based sound mixing. It definitely has the capability for a greater depth effect, even when mixed down to Dolby True HD. I'm sure it will be even more impressive on a native Atmos system.

The film starts with a logo for Trancis International and then there is a modern logo for Compass, then the film begins as it usually does.

I don't mind the logos so much, it reminds me of the days watching the original Media Home Entertainment VHS with that logo introing the movie. I kinda wish that logo was included... aw, the memories

I would LOVE the old Media logo. Something very low-rent and quaint and nostalgic about that. But these modern logos don't conjure the same warm feelings, for me. So... no big deal... I'll skip 'em. I wasn't trying to complain as much as give people a head's up, 'cuz they're LOUD. If your theater is set to "gig volume" like mine was when I discovered these logos, you're in for a shocker.

My nostalgia for that release is what’s got me clamoring for a user in the Custom Cover thread to recreate it the way he did with another Media VHS release. Perfection. I’d rather have exactly that artwork than the reverse ‘original poster’ art on this release. I have a replica of the VHS as a tiny keychain that I bought online, and it brings me fuzzy feelings whenever I look at it, especially the back cover (the synopsis on the VHS is the best one, too, imo). I’m such a dork.

As soon as I get it in my hands I'll listen to some scenes in ATMOS and share my thoughts here.

I swear, this thread and the Clockwork Orange 4K UHD thread are two of the most interminably whiny and eyeroll-inducing threads in these boards' recent history, which is saying a whole hell of a lot.
Correction, Best Buy street day is today for the first two films, and I would pick them up but the whole “they are a whole state away from me” thing kind of prevents me from picking them up today. And I swear people must not know the definition of what a forum is, since they don’t want to read other’s points of view rather than their own.

Best Buys here have zero Halloween IIs. Is that why the release date was delayed? Because part II wasn't going to be ready in time?

Odd, only the first on is available. Has anyone managed to get part 2?

That’s exactly how the Fathom Events screening began. Does it at least have the original 1978 logo for Compass in the movie itself?

Also, is the “extended version” the new transfer, does it have the original mono, and does it restore the “Smith’s Grove/May 1965” title cards?

Yes, of course. Nothing has been altered once the music begins over black.

There are some reviews up (Home Theater Forum and a few others), but when I bought the last 4K there wasn't any of this garbage about the 4K transfer really not being taken from the best sources etc.. I have no doubt they will be saying the same thing in a year or two about this release when another version comes out.
