Right, so weird.

In the Benelux we also had different codecs for 1-3 but only 1 and 2 had lossless audio while 3 still had lossy DD.

Unfortunately it doesn’t have the 2nd disc of extras for three, but it’s still a much better box set overall.

I kept my 2nd disc from the U.K. standalone M;I 3 and put it in the box set. I’ve also got the BB and Asda exclusive bonus disc aswell. Wonder if a 4k boxset will be released with all existing extras when Fallout goes into cinemas?
Yes, I bought the Hong Kong equivalent and also put the bonus discs into that set!

The first two have such old transfers that the new encodes don't make a huuuuge amount of difference but Mi3 knocked my socks off, the new encode fixes the nasty banding seen on the old BD.

Yessss! Amazing news... The first one is my favourite by far. I watch it several times a year -on average- and it's in my top 20 ever.

Then it goes MI:3, then Ghost Protocol -- These are the only ones I'll be buying for some time into my collecting. But I'm sure the HDR on the most recent few will be exceptional and worth owning to demo, in time.

I'd take 3, Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation!

I'd take a competently encoded version of Ghost Protocol, something the BD version isn't. It also has raised blacks that would make Nolan blush.

Without wanting to go over that ground again after the Inception thread, the blacks weren't mega deep on the Ghost Protocol IMAX prints either.

Fair enough, I'll settle for a version not riddled with compression issues. Even the Best Buy version sans any extras on the feature disc, looks like ass.

I think something went a bit hinky between the regular version and the retailer exclusive versions that they authored at the time, I don't recall any major issues on the UK Blu-ray though. In any case Paramount have done spectacularly well with the catalogue stuff that they've recently issued on UHD (Transformerses and Cloverfieldses) so I really wouldn't worry too much about that side of things.

Do you have the UK BD?

It's visible quite early on, on the US disc:

I've looked back on posts here and AVS and there were definitely issues, but nothing concrete unfortunately.

I remember reading that the Best Buy version of 4 had some issue despite it having a higher bitrate than the standard release, but I don't remember what the issue was. I always thought it looked fine.

I'll chime in too, as having a Scandinavian boxset. The old transfers for one and two are very much serviceable on Blu-ray. The complaints would not have been as loud all those years ago if they were the first release. But like a lot of films, they need a new transfer. I loved three. It is the perfect mission to show people who (gasp'???) Might not have seen the series. I love Rogue Nation. I really like the tone. It just kind of happens around him. As if it would, even if he wasn't there. And Rebecca Ferguson is the Jelly to my Peanut Butter. She is beautiful. Solid leading lady. And a great actor...

I actually wasn't super thrilled with the BD for 5. Contrast and saturation looked very overcooked at times, especially in Vienna. Skin tones too warm, reds kinda bleeding, etc. But the first two desperately need help, especially 1 since it's my favorite lol

Probably a first day purchase. Three is my favourite. Four, five and one are all good. Two is really, really average.

Looking forward to six.

I’m in for four and five... for obvious reasons.

I’ll be holding on to current Blus, though, because I don’t see the Best Buy and Target exclusive disc material being ported over for these releases.

Hoping these are individual releases (like Transformers), as I fancy 1, 4 and 5.
Really can't stand 2 or 3.

Would love to MI1 get cleaned up. It looked rough on BD.
