Wow, the same "too slow" criticism that The Shining has? That bodes very well for me.

They could've tightened up the first act just a little bit. That's about it.

I loved it. It was very unique, and kept me interested the entire time. I was genuinely interested in the world it/Stephen King has built. As per usual any film criticism along the tines of 'too boring' should be ignored. Always.

Great insight.
I don't want it to be garbage like IT.
I want it to be tighter paced

This is 'King slow', not 'Kubrick slow'. It's the large cast of charismatic characters with distinct roles that draw it out, not slow burn and intentional tedium/banality.

The comparison to IT is legit. Those movies are a better benchmark for enjoying Doctor Sleep than Kubrick's The Shining IMO.

I loved the shining, like Sleep a while bunch and hate IT.
Chapter 2 was the worst film I have seen all year

Did you not see MIB: International?

Doctor Sleep is tighter and more visually more interesting than IT: Chapter 2 but they both feel very King to me. I buy that Doctor Sleep works as a continuation of the characters in Kubrick's Shining but the films don't feel very similar beyond that. It also felt like King was using this as a second chance to 'fix' certain things that Kubrick had changed in his adaptation.

Why would I see MIB?

Well, why would you see IT: Chapter 2? Several of its issues were present in Chapter 1 after all.

Yes, you do. At least, I do. AND I buy the digital versions because they usually come out first.

Honestly thought this was an excellent sequel and one of the best of year. Sucks it's bombing at the box office but delighted it got made anyway. Will gladly get a copy because this seems like the sort of film that benefits from rewatches. And as suggested by my girlfriend (who really dug it too), a double bill with this and the original Shining would make for an interesting viewing just to see how much Doctor Sleep complements the first film.

I thought the film was excellent and saw it twice today

Thought the film was very respectful of Kubrick's movie. Had wide grins on my face multiple times thorughout the film.

4K UHD BD pre-ordered!!
