Day one for me.
I may see this movie only one or two times for the rest of my life (especially since it's a loooonnnnngggg one) but it looked awesome on Blu-ray. I was even more blown away by the movie - I hadn't seen it in like 20 years and expected it to be hokey, but I was totally wrong. Last edited by MarkosC; 12-14-2020 at 01:30 AM. |

If anyone's curious as to why there are 10 commandments, the origin tale is found in Mel Brooks 'History of the World - Part 1'

I'm an Atheist, too. I think Ten Commandments and Ben-Hur are great films. I'll definitely buy the 4Ks of them when they get released. |

Another atheist here and I fully concur. Growing up Catholic I remember watching The Ten Commandments on VHS back in the 80s. Even on a small 19 inch tv and pan and scan video this movie still felt epic.

I first saw this film as a kid in one of its re-releases in the early 70s. The TV spot stated it contained the most spectacular scene ever filmed, " the parting of the Red Sea". I went with friend and the theater was filled mostly with kids - all wanting to see the parting the Red Sea.
When it started with Cecile B. DeMille speaking from a stage he stated the film would be 3 hours and 39 minuets there was a groan through out the audience - we weren't going to see the parting of the Red Sea right off. But when the film started all were transfixed and transported; it was incredible. When the intermission came we all ran to the bathroom exciting that we must be that much closer to the part we all came to see. As the moment came and sea was about to part the audience just sat, leaning forward... then as it parted all mouths opened wide and the sound of awe filled the theater. It was, and is one of my best few moments in the cinema. Simply SPECTACULAR. |

I do remember watching this movie, about 7, 8 yrs old, in a theatre in South Korea back in mid '70s. I think I found it amazing at the time as I still remember parting of the Red Sea to this day.
After watching it 20+ times (probably), the movie still holds up quite well and reasonably enjoyable to watch. One doesn't have to believe in ghosts to enjoy ghost movies or super heroes to enjoy Marvel/DC based movies. |

All anyone needs to know, is that this is an epic movie by one of Golden Age Hollywood's greatest directors adapting one the most legendary sections of a highly circulated book.
Believer or Atheist, it doesn't matter. If you are fan of Golden Age epics, this is for you. Just sit back with a bowl of popcorn or your preferred snack and enjoy the larger than life story played out on the screen by some of the most loved stars of Hollywood. Anyway, this will be mine. |

Echoing others, this film transcends religious beliefs. It's a beautifully shot and well acted Technicolor epic from Hollywood's Golden Age. It's a must see for any cinephile.

I am an atheist...I don't find it offensive...just overlong and boring...an empty Technicolor circus in fairy tale key, sort of a "The Golden Blade" with more money thrown into it and more pretentious.
