Regarding cartoonish villains, is Dennis Nedry the human villain of part 1? Or who would be if not him?
I think FK's biggest flaw character wise is playing into Chris Pratt rather than make him play against type. We didn't necessarily need another Malcolm in LW and Grant in JP3, but given what they survived in JW, he was still a little too loose and jokey for their return to danger. Any opposition he had was over pretty quick that I barely remember it. I really enjoyed the movie, but I wanted dinosaurs, and I got dinosaurs. |

Nedry is a buffoon but he's not a cartoon, there's a difference. And at least there's no laughably thin pretence that he's actually a good guy like Rafe Spall, Nedry's cards are laid on the table early on and the fun is from watching this clown trying to get one over on Hammond and failing miserably.
