Hahaha don't be so hard on yourself. I get the Dariuses confused all the time, lol. Wolski and Khondji.

I have to agree, I haven't watched the full disc yet, but the new color grade and original mono (whatever, I know it's not as good as the LD, still better than what we had on the 2018 UHD) were enough reason to pick it up for me!

I posted the screenshots to show that Shout could do better in that one aspect, but I don't want people to abandon the release just because of it. There's almost always at least one thing that can be improved on a release.

Comparing the Lionsgate to the Shout, I noticed there is audio sync issues throughout the whole movie with either audio track. Shout has no sync issues. Anyone else notice this with the lionsgate disc?

I have no disrespect for the guy as a cinematographer, he shoots stuff very well. But he seems to like to alter the way stuff looks now, sometimes for the worse (EE, DNR, color alterations). That being said, from the looks of it, I personally prefer the color timing of the new transfer a lot more than I do the 2013 transfer (present on the 2018 4K).

Edit: Forgot to mention 2 things: I haven't actually watched the disc on my TV yet, so these issues might not be as noticeable in motion (to most people), and don't take the color as very accurate, I only used madVR's default HDR-to-SDR settings. Not that an HDR-to-SDR conversion is ever accurate.
Because that's how I watch Halloween - frame by frame, studying the compression.

ffs

So they Scream did mess up the aspect ratio after all (squished, making everything look fatter). On top of the bad compression and stretched picture, I'm not totally sure the colors look uniformly better. Looks like a hit or miss case scenario. If this is what the disc looks like I'll happily stick to the 2018 release.

I mean, I didn't go frame by frame looking for bad examples, I just clicked 3 different spots on the timeline and took screenshots (and then found the matching frame in the other release).

As I noted, please don't judge the color based on HDR-to-SDR conversions

Things aren't perfect. At a certain point, you just have to kick back and watch the facking movie.

I mean, I basically already said that a few posts ago:

You’ve gotta believe me officer, the mono is filtered.
Because I know it. I’m its doctor.
