The good news is that everything has turned out even better than we expected when it comes to the pins, the vinyl, and the embossed slipcases featuring our newly commissioned artwork. We’re also delighted by the picture quality of our new 4K transfers for all five of the films, and we hope you’ll enjoy them, as well.

The posters for these releasees have been printed, the enamel pins have arrived, and we have started to receive the 7” vinyl into our warehouse. The one piece we are still waiting on to arrive is the 7” vinyl for the original Halloween. This has shipped from the European Union and is scheduled for delivery in the US within the next few days. This delay has kept us from being able to ship the most popular of the Halloween offers.

We will know the precise delivery date for the outstanding 7” in the next couple of days. Once it has arrived in the United States, our warehouse has a truck ready to drive to the import terminal, pick up the goods, and bring them back so we can start shipping orders out as soon as possible.

May I please inquire as to why the sets with only the 4K UHD + Poster are not being shipped yet, since it appears all of those are in stock?

Until we see proper screencaps to compare with every other edition (basically Caps-a-holic), I don't think we can definitively say that it's the 4K transfer that is wrong in regards to the geometry.

For instance, if we compare the headlights in this shot, it's the 35th anniversary transfer that looks too "skinny". These types of issues can crop up with anamorphically shot films but unless they're very drastic--like the 1st Criterion DRESSED TO KILL--, I don't it counts as an error.

Last time I’ll order directly from Shout. Figures the exclusive content would hold up the shipping. They should’ve offered an option of just the movies only.
These are also in eco cases is that right?

If anyone noticed the “stretching” without toggling between releases and using a perfect circle to compare buttons on a sweater for perfect roundness, I’d be profoundly shocked. The disc looks great. It’s the best the film has ever looked, for heaven’s sake. Watching this in Dolby vision is a real treat. If you want to pass on this over supposedly stretched geometry (based on one review that already wrongly reviewed the mono track), be my guest. Meanwhile, I’ll be muxing in the Criterion mono with this video and enjoying the hell out of this.

It is, however, exactly like every crappy surround version of Halloween ever. Not a single revisionist foley effect or audio change in general is different than they’ve ever been.

I'm never going to be this person.

Yes, the original is the best, but I can't be down with just watching originals.

It would get to repetitive and boring to me.

Edit: Forgot to mention 2 things: I haven't actually watched the disc on my TV yet, so these issues might not be as noticeable in motion (to most people), and don't take the color as very accurate, I only used madVR's default HDR-to-SDR settings. Not that an HDR-to-SDR conversion is ever accurate.
Each pic the new version is massively better with maybe some parts of the first pic. laking. I don't see massive amount of more compression issues in pic 2 and 3.

Pic 3 is such an improvement it makes me want to drop kick the old version. The overall shadow detail, artifacting etc are just light years better. Compression artifacts stand out more because you are getting a vastly more detailed picture.

It's funny you are assuming the previous disc was correct to begin with when this new release is the only one from the original negative. Gotta love the Internet.

I've just measured both in AutoCAD. The Lionsgate measures 2.35:1, whereas the SF measures 2.39:1. Unless I'm mistaken, that would actually make the SF correct, not the other way around (the top image is not measured incorrectly - the red bounding box only looks like it's above the lower letterbox bar in the image - it's right on the line when I zoom in close).

https://www.unravel.com.au/aspect-ratio-cheat-sheet

Either way, it's such a freaking small difference, I'll absolutely never notice one way or the other. And neither would anyone else without switching between the two sources. And if they say otherwise, frankly, they're lying.

That's not how it works. Compression artefacts stand out more because the compression is mediocre. But if these has FEL Dolby Vision then that may be going some way to making them look a trifle more filmic in motion than those caps where grain has seemingly been replaced with chunks of digital shite.
