Got an "Estimated Delivery of October 27th" for Halloween 1 from Amazon, nothing for the others. Pre-ordered pretty much when they went up. Bummed, but as long as I get them before the week of Halloween I'm good.

I preordered Parts 2-5 from Bullmoose and they'll arrive tomorrow according to tracking so I'm very impressed by BM's speediness in getting these out. And that was via Economy shipping. The original is coming from Amazon. No sign of movement for that one, though. Looks like Shout is using slim chipboard-style slipcases for these so I'm happy about that.

ffs Shout, other retailers are shipping or already putting out in store. Just ship the damn things that you have available.

Has anyone gotten shipping notifications from Grindhouse Video? I know they started their move so I’m not surprised that I haven’t seen anything from them for a bit now just curious if anyone else had their order shipped from them yet.

"Filtered" though it may be, the mono track has always been preferable to the garbage revisionist remix you have opted for throughout the years.

Cancel orders and pick them up elsewhere. Only way they’ll re-evaluate their practices. If I find 2 somewhere tomorrow, I’m scrapping the rest of my order with them. Cheaper everywhere else as well.

SF confirmed that they spent a solid month working on Halloween (1978) for just the picture quality alone. From the looks and sounds of things they got it mostly right. The lone review we have of the 4K release (HDD) seems to have gotten their rating right if there is compression/encoding issues (4 1/2 stars). If you want any action taken for this release, you go directly to the source.
Seriously? Not being mean, but I've never read a more contradictory and delusional post. Of course everyone wants the best possible encode and OG audio, but this is being the Wednesday morning quarterback and then some. The ship has sailed. Complain away. No one is scared of Shout. They're just grounded in practical reality. People haven't even SEEN this disc yet. A few physical media collectors wish that Shout did a little nicer job on the encode. Sure, Shout always sucks at encodes and has for 10+ years. But someone really thinks that a few complaints to Shout will cause the production house to entirely cease its current production of one of its better selling titles at the peak of its demand, remaster the ENTIRE transfer NOW, less than 4 weeks away from Halloween, master a brand new audio track, then generate thousands and thousand of replacement discs, and roll out a REPLACEMENT PROGRAM, and absorb massive additional shipping, production and manufacturing costs, for a release that is easily ahead of any prior release of the title including on the 4k format itself, has a brand new atmos track, and is already garnering them 4+ star ratings from review sites???? I'm utterly baffled at how people don't understand this is a business that has to function for a profit. Granted, they're admittedly not all that great at what they do. Your only REAL WORLD choice is to not buy their products, and stick with the studio releases that are actually even worse. That's reality. Has anyone on this site EVER seen a production company roll out a wide-scale REPLACEMENT PROGRAM of ANY KNOWN TITLE IN EXISTENCE, just because collectors wanted a nicer encode, or a better audio mix than the four that they got????? People that haven't even seen the disc yet, already screaming for a replacement program, and browbeating others to all join in the fray, is lunacy.

There really do be people who project the aura that they're incapable of ever raising criticism directly to these publishers. Even when the so-called ship has sailed that doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't. Even if doing so wouldn't likely result in any change to the product as a recall etc, it very well could change things in the future. That's also reality.

If you want releases put out to a higher standard let them know and use your wallet if you care so much. It's not unreasonable in the slightest.

So, the mono is the same beloved track that was on the boxset, but now people are complaining about it. Check. I see I missed lots by not checking this thread yesterday.

It's far more than that. The troops are actually rallying to scoop up the pitchforks, storm the walls, and demand a full-blown replacement disc, over that and Shout's standard, usual, sketch compression. They haven't even seen or heard the disc yet, but you're a coward if you don't join in the march.

Back to reality, we can all hope that, down the road, if Shout even maintains the licensing, perhaps based on customer feedback they'll maybe do a limited "studio classics" release in future, with original audio. Or not.

So folks, drop Shout a note, tell them the new disc is a solid effort, could use better compression which is always subpar on their releases compared to their competitors, and then emphasize how collectors WANT OG audio, on ANY release. It's fine and well, and the right thing to do. Keep in mind, Shout also reads these forums carefully, and they KNOW their compression sux, for all the good it's done us complaining about it endlessly for a decade on dozens of their releases, across thousands of pages of threads. It's nothing they don't already know you're complaining actively about. They didn't just wake up this morning and suddenly discover that their compressionist sucks, because someone here emailed them about the Halloween 1978 4k. But as soon as you start "demanding a replacement program", for a release this decent, they've already written you off as a nutjob. This disc is, for better or worse, the best this film has ever looked or sounded on any blu ray release to date, and yet, people want a replacement program...some of the same folks that will sing the praises of a studio 4k uhd release that's based on a blurry filmout that has less detail than the 10 year old blu ray. Go figure.

And while we're keeping score, Shout also gave us a new transfer from the superior OCN as promised, actually gave us the correct aspect ratio unlike prior releases, and fixed the annoying audio sync issue from the Lionsgate disc. Clearly, they should be hung by the neck until dead for this obstreperous diversionary chicanery and preposterous tomfoolery.

Just got an email from Amazon. Halloween 5 will ship on Oct 27.
Last week I was told that The first movie would ship on Oct 11.

Still no estimated ship date for II-4.

Glad I preordered.

This really sucks.

I know. Wish they would have told everyone that three months ago when preorders went live. A simple "hey don't expect to get this by release date" would have been nice, but also would have lost them business. So I guess I understand why they didn't tell anyone.

You are exactly right, the ship HAS sailed. Like you have already pointed out in your post, I am refusing to buy this title because they decided to stick with inferior audio sources for this release and followed the same protocol that others have done in the past. I also don't expect them to provide a replacement program for all of the issues brought up, that decision needs to be made by Shout Factory. If no one goes directly to them to address issues then how do you expect them to even make a decision like that in the first place? Shout Factory will never bother to improve on their products if everyone remains silent and I don't see anything wrong with providing feedback be it positive or negative. My hope is that they take the feedback to heart and do a better job the next time they release the film. I don't think there is anything delusional about that.

Not to mention, is the issue just a few frames where as making this impossible to see in motion from regular seating distances? I'm not worried about it at this point.
