nice thread

yeh I highly doubt it would be released in todays cinemas with mono or should I say filtered mono lol

have ordered mine anyway,
and I liked the 7.1 track like many other's so looking forward to Atmos upgrade

as for colour from review I have seen, looks more like a balance between two previous transfers

Dean had said that 35th was the most accurate, and this was how it should look/was intended to look

maybe he switched from cool to warm on his monitor ? or upgraded it ?
or his memory improved ? yet he also forgot about the original mono lol

Why would be be released today with mono? It was released in 1978....

UHD IS the new Betamax. But I checked the Bourne Identity 4k packaging, and it's actually ULD. No wonder!

Have to admit, it's nice living rent free in your head. I've clearly rattled you over the past 24 hours or so in this thread which is HILARIOUS considering we're talking about films on discs and the company that makes them.

Can picture you right now - elevated heart rate, dry mouth, clammy palms.. Refreshing in hopes of a witty come back.

Huh you're sounding very mad right now. why so mad? Extremely upset at me much, nerd? Very very disturbing. I'm going to assess you psychologically as I'm a doctor, and diagnose you to myself. Goodness very angry and scary...

You're throwin stones from a glass house over a forum, dude. I think you need to learn what sarcasm and jokes are too while you're at it.

Hey, if it helps you sleep at night go for it, I guess!

3. The Lionsgate release is $23 to $25 Before tax and shipping. The new one is $27. Literally at most three to four dollars difference. If that’s a problem then you have bigger things to worry about than entertainment. It is your money but this is ridiculous.

4. Scream Factory is three discs… including the original 1978 mono from the original elements, new Atmos mix, the extended version, and more extras.

If you want the best value then the Scream release is it. It just sounds like you want to be “part of the cool kids” and dump on this/disparage it just because. I find it a nice upgrade to my box set release and am more than happy with it.
I have a lot of movies I have purchased but have not watched them. This is one of them! I bought the old LG one, never watched it, and now bought the new SF one. If the LG is very close to the SF one, I can still return the new SF one within 45 days at Best Buy as long as it’s sealed.

I have no opinion at all about this movie or its PQ. I don’t give AF about being cool in any circumstance. I’m too old for that crap!

I want to make a smart decision and not waste $30 if I don’t need to. If enough people say this is a major upgrade from the Lg G one, I’ll gladly keep this new one!

What a mess of a thread, lol.

I'm gonna say this based off what I've seen reading through pages of this thread. This release is a solid upgrade over the previous, but still looks to fall short of a 'perfect' experience.

The release has a better scan, the colors look nicer, the bonus material is more plentiful and filled out PLUS it has the original audio.

However, the original audio is the same filtered track from before, which while a bit disappointing, nobody here knew until too late and i'm sure Shout had no idea either. I'm glad to have the original audio back.

I'm less able to forgive the meh compression in the HDR10 layer. The previous release from Lionsgate had better compression, and it's disappointing that even for a title as massive as Halloween Shout STILL provides the same mediocre and clumpy encodes. They're leagues better than Studiocanal, and i'm pretty sure Dolby Vision is gonna help alleviate some of the issues, but this a problem that they have had for literal years and show no signs of giving the smallest care about. The encode is far from a disaster, but it's kinda disappointing to see again and again and again. Especially as large of a title as this.

Still excited to see the new release, though. The new one is still a solid upgrade.

If you’ve never seen the movie, you likely won’t care that the color timing of the Lionsgate disc isn’t 100% accurate and that the audio is a remix. It sounds like you just bought it because it was a UHD(if that wasn’t your intention, I’m sorry) and the Lionsgate disc looks fine.

That's the thing; I don't want to let you go. Your fantasies about how I truly feel for you, it's really sweet. I promise I never cared as much as you say I do, but I've forgotten you're telepathic and that's the lesson I should be taking from this. My jig is up. If you'd like my number I'll gladly hand it over, just say the word! (unless you have it already, you big lug, in that case gimme a call )

It was made in 1978, why is this so hard to grasp?
And picture? This looks better than the most recent Halloween.

It's too bad this forum didn't have "VERIFIED PURCHASE" markers like the reviews on Amazon, isn't it? It would make it a lot easier to sort through those who have an informed opinion vs. those speculating and talking out their behinds.

I don't have the previous release, just this new one, so I can't give you my own opinion on it - but I do believe as I follow this (mess of...) a thread, that literally almost everyone who has both releases says the Shout version is superior in all three realms - picture, audio, and extras.
