I'm convinced no one on this website actually just sits down, puts on a movie, watches it, and then that's it.
It does seem minor, but on the other hand, is there anything wrong with people wanting to see a release done correctly? People have bought this film multiple times, and it would be nice to think at some point we'll have a release without issues. It happens with lots of films, so why is Halloween cursed?

Way too overly compressed for my liking as well. Every vintage slasher should have a few globby bits of mushy nasty, here and there.

Went to Best Buy on my lunch break and didn't see any of the films out. Asked an associate and she said that unfortunately Best Buy is very strict with their release dates, so it hasn't been set out yet.

Also none of the films show up as available for pickup for me. They all require shipping. Lame.

23.976 seems to be the standard for blu-rays and 4k. Usually 24.000 is something done on a few European discs, but otherwise 23.976 is standard. So I don't consider 24.000 "fixed". I find it rather odd actually.

Lots of people don't want to bother with the hassle of muxing when they bought a disc specifically to be able to play it. And lots of people don't have the proper disc drive to read UHDs. It's great there are options to do this, but I don't like buying a release and then having to fix it myself. It makes me wonder why I'm even buying it for if I have to do all of this to fix it. I do appreciate you offering to help out with the audio file though for those that want to do it.

It’s a video standard, not a shooting standard. The film was shot at 24fps.

I understand these points, and in a perfect world, I’d have preferred a perfect disc where this wasn’t necessary. But since that rarely happens, I consider a UHD drive as essential a piece of hardware as a standalone player. No one “likes” buying something and having to fix it, but it is what it is. I CAN fix it, so why the hell not? Sure beats hoping one day it’ll be flawless. And side note, if it ever IS, I’ll buy it again.

Agreed, and after I did muchly viddy it on the screen, I called all well and well. When the masked one came in vivid dancing technicolors grand, the trumpets threewise silverflamed. So too, I felt all the malenky little hairs on me plott standing endwise, and the shivers crawling up like slow, malenky lizards, and then down again. As I slooshied, I knew such lovely pictures. And I knew she was viddy well....

Agreed. Honestly I always thought 23.976 was an odd framerate, but since it's what the vast majority of blu-rays and UHDs release in, I always wonder why some do decide to go with 24.000, which is the films' native frame rate.

Many media players a few years ago struggled with 24.000 frame rate, due to the chips being timed for 23.976 as it's the video standard. They would stutter every 42 seconds due to the timing discrepancy if playing 24.000 video files. They finally solved that issue with the chips years ago though thankfully, so media players do handle both 23.9786 and 24.000 fine these days.

I've always thought this was funny.

Go to 4:14 and you can see the two guys in the house next door on the other side of the hedge get up and look at the camera.

All this FPS talk reminds of HD-DVD, I remember when someone uncovered that HD-DVD was incapable of storing 24fps because all the movies were played back from 29.97 or something strange. It was a pretty big deal at the time because BD was doing 24 and 23.976 natively. I can't say I ever noticed any difference or even currently understand it all.

If you have a 60 Hz TV (59.94), wouldn’t it convert playback from 24fps to 23.976? (Not that it matters; this is just for my own nerdy edification.)
