The new transfers for Halloween 1-5 appear to be on Netflix UK if anyone's interested.

My copy of the 1st appears to be arriving on the 6th, wished I ordered the others earlier when I had the chance they appear to be all out of stock.

It really isn’t a matter of equalization. Don’t get me wrong; you could undoubtedly improve matters *some*, but you’ll never really get the filtered mono sounding like the Criterion track after the fact. That said, all you need is an internal (or external) UHD drive and a USB drive to plug in to your standalone 4K player. The process is very easy. If you ever get the other two items, I’ll be happy to walk you through it privately.

Good to know; I'll definitely reach out to you if the urge bubbles up inside me and becomes an obsession I can't do without (and I think we all understand that, as collectors)... but for now I'm comfortably content and think I'll stay the course. Sincerely appreciated!

You’d be surprised!

Few understand it, and those who don’t will let you know, “lol”.

noticed the first UHD from 18 looks a tad warmer in color tone. I do wonder what does "original blu color timing" on disc 3 really mean? did they go back to that really blue look of the 99 THX dvd or the washed out colors of the DIVIMAX dvd or a bit in between?
Blue where like Myers comes out of the shadows about to attack Laurie and his mask is blue instead of gray sort of b&w.

Got a chance to sit down and sample some of the new disc. This is undoubtedly the best the film has ever looked since it's premiere. The color timing is pitch perfect. As far as the mono audio, I think it sounds fine. It sounds close enough to the Criterion laserdisc for me that I probably won't bother muxing them. Whatever Shout did to give it some life works for me. And I have to say, the Atmos track is pretty impressive. The thunderstorm in the beginning is especially enveloping. Still, the mono is the way to go for me, but I won't fault anyone for preferring the Atmos.

Got 1, 2, 4 and 5 today from Amazon.

I rarely have a complaint for my Amazon deliveries, apparently I am lucky, but leave it to them to deliver all 4 of these in a paper bag when I get tiny things that cost $5 in a sturdy box.

*Man, how do you upload a pic here? You have to go to another site to upload a pic and link it here? Talk about outdated.

I feel for Cundey every time I see it; he must HATE that. You just know that if this were a Lucas or Spielberg flick, they would've painted that sucker out fifteen years ago.

The bad news is, based on that screen cap, the one on the left is clearly stretched with an incorrect aspect ratio. I knew a proper comparison would blow the Shout H1978 4k uhd out of the water!!!

I've been a huge advocate for the original mono on this (and previous) releases, and I too am "fine" with the filtered version, but... I did happen to set up an A/B test for myself using this 4K disc and the mono from the Boxed Set edition of the 35th Anniversary transfer. I had both discs playing simultaneously on my Oppo 203 and Oppo 83, and could seamlessly switch inputs between them... and there is NO discernible difference. To my ears, SF did NO sweetening, despite earlier reports. If there are graphs and charts that prove me wrong, then I accept the science, lol... but my ears heard NO difference as I toggled back 'n' forth. Still love it; it's absolutely my go-to audio track... but it has not been improved, as far as I can tell.

Jesus wept!!! At least they didn't drag it across the asphalt for a few hundred yards, skid it around the soot-covered steel floor of a diesel delivery van for a couple thousand miles, and hit it with a garden hose several times...oh wait....

Jamie Lee Curtis also had no desire to return as that was when she was trying to move on from horror into other genres, but did so out of loyalty and appreciation for the first film being her launching pad.
Well that and a lawsuit...

Not even a volume bump? I saw a few posts early on suggesting it sounded louder.
