I ordered my copy back in August with "Elvira's Haunted Hills" and have heard nothing from Shout! Should have just gotten it at Best Buy when I saw it there last week, now it's completely sold out around L.A. |

How does the mono on the TV cut compare to the mono on the theatrical version? Is it unfiltered?

What audio is it set to play for default? Will we have to go in and change it each time to get the proper mono track or is it already set to that for its default? |

Amazon is saying my copy of H1 is arriving on the 13th
I finally got a date for H2 but it was the 31st or after so I just decided to cancel and probably pick it up when it’s on sale or next year. Anyone know why H2 seems to be the one people have to wait for the most? Even some review sites, this site included, seem to skip H2 until they finally receive it. |

Film balanced for daylight will look slightly blue when the light has a color temperature higher than what the film is balanced for. Daylight film will produce warmer looking colors when photographing while the sun is going down because the color temperature of the light is cooler (lower in color temperature) (I know this sounds confusing but lower color temperatures creates warmer looking colors IF the film used is balanced for daylight (or about 6500K.) The Lionsgate version simply looks like someone went in and purposely balanced the white to look white which is not how things look in real life and all the other colors look a little odd. If you're used to looking at differences in color while the sun is at different angles in the sky, you will notice how white looks different through the day, but our brain corrects for the differences in color temperatures so white always looks white. Film cannot on it's own make white look like white unless the color temperature of the light (the sun in this case) exactly matches the color temperature of the film being used which can happen but only during certain times of the day. Tungsten film will make white look white as long as tungsten light is being used. Tungsten film by the way is balanced for a white point of about 3200K. The one on the left has the correct (very slightly wider) aspect ration of 2.39:1 the way it was originally captured.

![]() The girl who was with me that night clawed the top of my hand almost throughout the whole movie. It hurt like hell and it took almost two weeks for those finger nail punctures marks to go away. I didn't complain because it was my first date. |

I personally would not demand for SF to do a replacement program, that would be met with eye rolls and a quick discard of the email. Instead I would send them polite feedback on the product and express disappointment that they did not use the best possible audio source for this release and hope that it can be resolved in a future release. Unfortunately the ship has sailed to obtain a better audio source and I am highly doubtful that a replacement program would be setup for all of the issues people are pushing in this thread (compression/encoding, filtered mono, etc). But you also cannot expect SF to improve their releases if no one addresses them directly. Contact their Customer Service department and lets see what they will do, they will at least give you a reply. |

I'd rather have noticeable GRAIN over noticeable COMPRESSION. 70's films look great with it. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Jaws, Barry Lyndon, The Deer Hunter, Halloween 78' etc. Hands down some of the best films EVER made to this day, and best MONO audio/soundtracks! Hit me with that GRAIN and MONO baby
![]() ![]() ![]() This is the 4K FORMAT. I was expecting a little more quality control for this iconic film. We will bite on the newly released Halloween II Scream 4K and stick with The Lionsgate 4K for now. |

The compression issues are, IMHO, quite minimal if you are set up for DV. Now maybe that much could be up for debate depending on who you ask around here (I've watched the disc twice now and think it's great, FWIW), but what's not up for debate is that the new transfer HAS noticeable grain. It just isn't as course as the Lionsgate, which is understandable as the new scan is from the OCN. This isn't the first time someone has chimed in with a hyperbolic "this has been scrubbed clean!!", and I'm sorry, but that IS - NOT - TRUE. The grain is healthy and clearly visible, it's just FINE grain due to the source. It's really a shame that people are getting the impression that the old UHD is somehow "better". You may personally prefer it for one reason or another, but it frankly is not empirically better. It's just simply not the case.
