That's going to be hard to not price match @ Best Buy later when I go pick up Aquaman. But still...im sure they are going to have a complete series in 4K soon enough. Ughh, I hate when this happens.

The only hesitation I have is what happens if the entire series comes out? I'm the only one I know who collects 4k

I have 1-6 on blu-ray and likely won't upgrade, but I am holding off on season 7 in the hopes of getting a UHD version for last year and the upcoming final season.

Hopefully seasons 2-7 will be available individually by the time season 8 is ready for release.

Nice, my $7 BBY price adjustment makes up for the worthless non-4K code.

With physical media on the decline are you sure there's a complete set? Not to mention they're probably using sales of the first season to justify other seasons? It's not much to be out if they did anyway.

And since you are, are you going to take the chance there's going to be a complete 4k series set?

So I just decided to buy the Robert Ball edition of season 2 since I don't think it will be released on 4K individually (either a complete set or nothing). I guess I'm fine with having only season 1 on 4K.

I am absolutely sure there is going to be both a regular and 4K complete series set of Game of Thrones at the conclusion of the series. Deluxe and Regular editions too. And probably subsequent ones in future years. This will be milked like a cow watching Star Wars.

I hope you are right. I may have to get season 8 in blu and buy the entire series in 4k again. More double dipping. I rewatched all 7 seasons; waiting for April 14.

You cry chicken little about this all the time. Let's bet $100. I say a complete 4K Game of Thrones set will be released by the time the GOT Prequel Season 1 hits home video.

Physical media is not on the decline. Physical media is doing well across all formats. They're making cassettes again. In fact, Wallows and Jenny Lewis just put out their latest albums on cassette last Friday. If the physical media format was on the decline they wouldn't have resurrected the cassette format all those years ago (6 years ago in fact).

Yes, Game of Thrones sells well. Just have a look at how many editions have been released for each season. Even last year when there was new GOT, they re-released all of the previous seasons with the Robert Ball limited edition artwork.

They will probably release season 8 a couple of weeks after the final episode is broadcast, then a complete boxset towards the end of November (HBO did the same with Boardwalk Empire)

No way... HBO fully intends to live off the completed season 8 to take advantage of positive word of mouth for future HBO GO subscriptions and new cable subscribers. I expect a September or October time frame.

HBO sunsetted Boardwalk Empire with barely a wimper. There was no buzz with that truncated last season (although I liked it).

It's much cheaper. The people with high-end displays can also get digital movies from the tv apps rather than buy a blu-ray.
Even on this forum you can tell it's a small minority still buying blu-rays. Most A/V enthusiasts here only want special editions of old catalogue titles.
The day DVDs go is the same day replication plants close and we can all kiss goodbye blu-rays and UHDs in one go.

Sort of depends on what it's compared to. Didn't Thor Ragnarok, IT, Coco, and Blade Runner 2049 get released during that similar time frame a year ago?
