If he stopped smoking at his age the stress would probably kill him, I've heard that doctors say that to people of that age that its easier on their body to keep smoking. But if he smokes 30 a day lol then he should be cutting back! also if they stopped making cherry in 2011 at 30 a day id say he ran out before 2012 lol and hes probably changed brand.

Besides everyone knows smoking is cool

I've always found it incredibly contradictory that anyone with such an obvious love of nature can still smoke, filling the lovely fresh air with disgusting noxious chemicals. I think it's really stupid, not cool at all, and I'll be quite irritated if we're robbed of more Miyazaki films because of it.

So if there is a great deal of smoking in The Wind Rises, would it be safe to assume It won't be released under Disney for the US release? I know it's been in some of the past movies, but I kind of see them passing on this one since it would be a theatrical release.

Difficult to say. Disney love Miyazaki but I can't see it fitting in due to the subject matter.

Not having seen it I'd assume it'll just possibly attract a slightly higher certificate. They released Spirited Away theatrically in the U.S. after all.

Not having seen it yet either, but I would assume that Spirited Away was a much easier thing to market to kids. Young girl protagonist, lots of fantasy elements with the dragon and whatnot.
No idea with this one though, I've kept my distance from it to not know too much about it before whenever I'm finally able to see it.

It does seem that they have a good, working relationship with GKids, so I wouldn't be surprised if both of the two new films were distributed by them in the US.

Haven't seen/heard it yet, but it's been released on BD in Australia. Thinking about getting it as it's nice to be able to concentrate on the beautiful backgrounds and animation without having to read subtitles now and then.

Not to mention that it is a pretty stellar cast as well (as all the Ghibli films get). I definitely look forward to finally viewing it that way.

Can someone post some pictures of these 'reversible' Japanese original covers that the Australian releases apparantly have? Really interested to see what they look like
