Is this the last week it'll be in Dolby Cinema? Trying to figure out if I need to see it ASAP or can wait a week or two. I meant to see the early fan screening in Dolby but couldn't.

Yes, Halloween is getting a majority/all of Dolby Cinemas this weekend. I don't even think it has an Atmos mix, I think it's just getting them for auditorium space.

I'd see it while you can now, I have an AMC pass so I can see 3 movies a week so I'm using it to watch Star is Born again tonight before they take it out of Dolby.

I won't be surprised if they put it back into Dolby next weekend or atleast split it with Halloween.

Caught it in Dolby today just in time before it’s taken over Thursday night. But I’ve got a strong feeling they’ll bring it back early 2019 for a week once Oscar nominations are announced.

And I’ll gladly revisit it in that format if they do so.

After slumming it in IMAX yesterday for First Man I managed to make it to my local Dolby Cinema to watch this today and firstly let me just say this is the second time in as many days that I've teared up a bit in the theater. Secondly, this is almost certainly going to be a knock out UHD. Loved the look and sound of this one.

I don't really know much about Lady Gaga but she won me over with her performance here. Everyone did a great job, and she might not have the acting chops of some of the other actors on display, but she makes the movie work. The movie itself was supremely watchable and I felt like time just flew by. I didn't think it quite stuck the landing, but overall it was a great ride and it will be a day one buy for me.

Very techy interview here with the editors on A Star is Born from provideocoalition's 'Art of the Cut' series, fascinating stuff for me but I think most of y'all will be dozing off after the first couple of paragraphs. Anyhoo, I mention it because of this section about the Dolby Atmos (no mention of HDR apart from Dolby Vision is a "beautiful format").

Quote:
Every time you do a movie, there’s a new process or format and because of timing and whatever, you haven’t used it. I’d never done a film in Dolby Atmos and it was always pitched to me as an “additional print master.” But just doing that doesn’t take advantage of the power of its design. And, these things are always discovered the hard way.

We’d done the final mix in 5.1 and 7.1 and the studio was all happy. And then we go into the Atmos room to “print master” and we discovered we were on new ground. At first, Bradley was really suspicious of Atmos. Then he got plugged in and loved it. He could hear stuff that he couldn’t hear in the 5.1 and 7.1 It quickly became: let’s remix the movie. Let’s take advantage of all the Atmos objects, especially with the music. So we did the Atmos mix then folded that mix to create a new 7.1 and 5.1, through the RMU box. There was a real learning curve to rearranging the workflow mid-stream. No question that the final result sounded better.

That stuff interests me as well. I remember last year when they released the Dolby Atmos version of Automatic For the People for its 25th anniversary there was a trailer discussing the remixing for Dobly Atmos. There was also an article out as well. I thought it was highly fascinating. I wish more artists would do this. And not just on legacy stuff either. On new stuff. I think I might give my left nut to hear Edie Brickell & New Bohemians new record Rocket in Dobly Atmos.

Managed to see it again yesterday in DC before it ended its run. Still my favorite of the year so far and probably the best sounding movie I've heard in theaters in recent memory.

The Greatest Showman as well but it did not get an extended cut.

'Automatic for the People' got a Dolby Cinema presentation? How'd I miss that?? I did attend the Dolby Cinema 'Sgt Pepper' event and it was glorious.

The sound in my local Xtreme theater (Xscape) was amazing. Sound to me is often more important than the visual, and this did sound amazing. I think I was hooked from the opening guitar strum. I hope it carries over to the home release.

With the 4k though, I am torn about purchasing it simply because I know how much it moved me (and my wife) emotionally, so will I want to put us through that again. That is definitely a sign of great movie.

Automatic for the People is on Blu-ray Audio with Atmos and even uses the five screen speaker layout available with Atmos. Unfortunately, Sgt. Pepper has not been released in consumer form with its Atmos remix.

It didn't. The Dolby Atmos mix was released in a box set that you could hear at home. Hence me saying I would give my left nut to hear a Dolby Atmos mix for Edie Brickell and New Bohemians record Rocket. I would love to see Automatic at a Dolby Cinema, but there are none in my viewing area.

Saw this at the theater yesterday. Good lord, what an emotional ride. My wife and I loved it.

Looking forward to hearing the soundtrack on the home release.

Really hope we get a steelbook for this. I think they could make a gorgeous one for this movie.

I’d actually prefer a Digibook with a copy of the soundtrack included

US cover. Small image, but it looks like both Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision stated on the HDR sticker.
