It's nowhere near their SOP, a literal handful of titles have been mastered from filmouts rather than digital data. They haven't done one for a good long while so if this is 'the return of the filmout' (keep an eye out for white dirt and scratches, kids!) then I wonder if the digital source material had a part to play in that decision.

So Best Buy has the lowest price at $14.99.
Hope this has a Dolby Atmos or DTS:X track.

Well, as expected it still looks like ass, but at least they've tamped down some of the diabolical sharpening of the blu-ray, doing away with dem halos and jaggies in the process. I'd still be interested in checking it out in motion (on the cheap though).

Stick with the original Blu-ray, the UHD looks like crap

Doing a fullscreen comparison of all the caps, it looks like the colors should be better on the UHD but to me it looks like there's a level of detail that's visible on the blu ray that's been lost on the 4K.

Am I the only one that thinks this looks better on UHD? If it's a filmout scan, they have greatly improved from the days of 3:10 to Yuma

No. I actually ordered this only after seeing the comparison earlier on today. For the reasons Fat Phil mentioned.

Filmout for sure AFAICT and both the BD and the UHD look like crap (didn't expect anything else), actually doesn't even look like the poor quality digitally shot movie anymore at times, extremely soft, BUT it does look more pleasing to my eyes. Mainly because the terrible sharpening/ringing/EE is gone. Might be a little too dark though. Still puzzled re. the horizontal lines in #4.

I will keep my German FU BD as well for sure, but I don't own the theatrical yet and adding the extremely cheap Lionsgate 15,66 € UHD doesn't really hurt my wallet.

You're not alone. This movie is never going to look good, but the compression seems better on the UHD....

Damned right. Ordered mine a couple of days ago, £13 and change (plus digital copy which I should be able to sell on here) means it's an easy buy and I've gotta say, from looking at the caps and the caps alone, if this is a filmout then in terms of what it does for the underlying image it's a world away from shite like Yuma or Kick-Ass or Dredd. It almost completely removes that harsh video 'look' and replaces it with something softer but FAR more filmic, even the grain looks nicely handled and not randomly DNR'ed from shot to shot like Lionsgate sometimes do. I can't wait to get this now!!
