Thank you.
Good to see they consider that one the original color timing because that's how I always felt about it, my favorite out of the bluray releases. I think the Limited Edition Anchor Bay DVD (that also had the TV release) is the superior color-timing, the 2007 blu being very close to it. |

Our brain does adjust to light in the way we perceive what's in front of us. Turn on a tungsten light and things will look normal to you. Then go into another room and turn on a florescent light and things will still look normal to you. But, if your photographing using both of those existing light sources, with film balanced for daylight, your pictures will have two very different shades of color. If you can stand between the two different light sources you'll see it's easy to see the difference in color between the two. Here's a sampling of what I'm talking about In the video, he's using a video camera that can adjust for different light temperatures or in other words a way to change the white point based on what type of light your using. Also in this video (in this case) he's not changing the light source, he's changing the white point for different types of light, but because the light source is the same; what we end up seeing is different colors as a result each time he changes the white point/color temperature settings. With film, there is no adjusting of the white point. So if the film you're using is balanced at 6500K, any color temperature higher than that will have whites that look bluer (or cooler.) When the sun is low and the light being filtered through much more atmosphere, the color temperature of the light will be around 4500K or so, and if your shooting with daylight film balanced for 6500K the film will record objects with a much more yellowish and or reddish look. When you walk outside and watch the sun set, if it's a clear sky, you probably don't realize how red and yellowish things look around you. But on film, it's easy to record and display those warm colors. Higher color temperatures = cooler looking colors. Lower color temperatures = warmer looking colors. Also in the video, you'll see warmer colors when he sets it to a daylight setting. That's because the lighting he's starting with is low in color temperature and the white point in the camera is set to a higher color temperature. The camera is expecting to see white as being around 6500K, but the lighting is not 6500K, it's much lower than that so the resulting color looks warmer. (Lower color temperatures = warmer looking colors.) Last edited by thebarnman; 10-15-2021 at 08:52 AM. |

A score only track would have been a very welcome bonus on 1-3's discs.
