I must say that the reveal shot of Michael in the doorway on this version is still a bit of a let down, as it has been on just about every BD and UHD release of this film.

Follow the thread. There is almost zero fine detail difference between the two and the colors are actually really close between the BD and the 4K. Easy choice. The most noticeable difference is the grain is sharper on the 4K. But what image detail is gained, almost nothing.

I had not seen this film in a few years, so when I saw the face shot in this, it seemed so much more...clearer than past versions? Again, I'm not a mega fan of this movie, so I'm not well versed in all the versions of this, but was that shot always so revealing? I remember it being a lot darker--in this cut you can see Michael's face clear as day, or maybe it's just how I have my TV calibrated?

So glad to know that there is at least one more intelligent existence besides my own. HIII is a great little gem of a horror movie - yes!

Not sure about intelligence, but around these parts, you are in the clear majority.

It seems that I'm the only one that absolutely HATES part 3...

Thankfully, we can at least ALL agree that it doesn't belong in the series...

How is the mono on this one? And compared to the 35th anniversary on the box-set? And laserdisc?

Mono on this is the same filtered-but-correct original track that's been included on every Blu-ray release of Halloween that got it right. The laserdisc mono sounds better (less filtered) but hasn't been used on any release since the 90's.

That comparison is for the SteelBook edition, which is different.

If Shout is able to release the two Rob Zombie movies, they absolutely need to include the infamous Workprint that leaked a few months before the movie hit theaters. I love that version of the film.

My copy came with a loose disc and the bottom "hinge" that holds the spindle is broken. I watched the discs and they're all OK; should I ask for an exchange, or should I just live with the broken case?

You can probably just order a replacement case if you don't want to exchange the set. I believe amazon and ebay sell individual cases.
