Halloween 4K UHD (1978)

Just in case anybody was wondering, I got my Shout 4K copy of Halloween 1978 imported to the U.K the other day with the slip box. Took three days to get here from Amazon.com.

Amazon shipped today without prime, quickly.

Glad that I got it for $22, they up to today for around $28.

Yeah i noticed that too when i bought the 15 disc box set back in 2014. Can't believe i missed that image of him for so many years on VHS and DVD.

For quite a while now they've been sending me even multiple discs, or large box sets even, in a mailer. Yet I'll randomly get one disc in a box all by itself sometimes. Totally random how they pack stuff. They sent me a $150 box set in a paper mailer a while back - they just don't care. But usually it's the paper mailers now. Which means everything I get usually has some type of damage to it. If it's a dented corner, Ill usually let it go. If the slipcase is creased right in half, back it goes.

Ah, Shout's still scratching their discs up. Glad to hear their quality control has improved after the F13 set.

It’s happening to everyone, not just Shout. Arrow had to replace a number of Dune discs this year.

Well turns out my replacement discs were waiting for me in the mailbox today! All except one had scratches even worse than the first ones.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Arrow has their own issues for sure. That shouldn't affect Shout doing the right thing.

I order the 5 titles, arrives in a yellow bubble paper bag, no box! At least they use a bubble mailer bag, not like my previous image that they use a paper mailer with no bubbles.


Thankfully no damage on the slips, I had luck this time, but yes Amazon packing recently is crap.

But you know in some way the paper bubbled bag is better than a box, because the bubbles protect a little more than the items floating around like a blender inside a box without any protection (by example I got Critters in a box with no protection at all inside, so the boxset moves around and all the corners arrives damaged).

Just some things (I open all except Halloween 2).

• There's a 1cm scratch on Halloween 3, maybe is superficial and don't affect the play... but bummer! (SF can send a replacement?).

• Halloween 1 BluRay multiple scuffs, possibly don't affect the play, not deep scuffs.

• Halloween 4 comes in a nasty Eco Case, so 1 disc floating around and the inlay paper is mushed, I really hate that Eco Cases!!!

• Halloween 2 Slipcase is larger in one side, weird, seems like a misprint, I can show pics later.

You know I think the problem about scratches that people report, me included, is because those black cases, the center hole is weak, I wish they use Scanavo cases like Criterion, Indicator or the Slims clear like Vinegar Syndrome, I don't care if those not say 4K UHD on the top like black ones but those protect more the discs.

It is not the black cases. Most of the time the scratches I see are not possible from the disc rotating in the hub. It is just shit handling. My copy of IotBS has a scratched up BD but a clean UHD. The case has a cover sleeve that is mangled and the case is cracked through a third of the width across from spine to nearly center hub, yet the case insert is free of any tears, creases or bends. Along with a perfect slip as well. This was sealed directly from Kino, pre-ordered. A perfect sleeve, slip and a heavily damaged case inside with a scratched disc. Discs are being packaged already ****ed up. And who the hell loads a cover insert into a broken case?
