Is possible check BluRay or 4K discs in a computer external drive to see if have issues?
I do that with Audio CDs, I rip with EAC or XLD and those apps do a test and brings a .log with the results about errors or pass the tests etc. I would love do that with DVDs/BluRays/4Ks, of that way we can know if those scratches don't affect the play without watch the whole disc, sometimes I don't have time to watch the scratched movie right away. |

I saw it, but it's very hard to see. If you're settings aren't adjusted properly on your TV it may highlight the issue more. With a properly calibrated display, it's a lot harder to notice.

But of course players may hiccup or cause issues with discs that your PC drive may handle okay with a scan. But it's a good place to start - if that scan shows any read errors, that disc should be replaced. |

having those cases on ultra hd sets is a disgrace. I even hate to see them when I'm buying $5 blu rays. the whole "eco" thing is a sham and they need to just go back to regular cases and stop being cheap. luckily I had a bunch of $9.99 ultra hd movies that I cannibalized the cases for to upgrade my Halloween sets. Bless Sony for always keeping it classy on the thick cases.

Eco cases are worse for the environment as they break more easily and us collectors who mostly buy physical media chuck them out as they're flimsy and often ruin the cover slips. They obviously cost less as it's less plastic and that's the only reason these companies are using them. They couldn't give a shit about the environment. With the prices these releases often cost it's a dog move to even use those cases in the first place.

My first Halloween III set was scratched so I got a replacement from Amazon. One set came in an Eco case and one set didn't. So it's totally random what they use. These eco cases need to disappear. Then again, if there's one good thing about them, they don't have the outgassing issues traditional blu-ray/UHD cases have, due to less plastic underneath the disc. Come to think of it, I'm not sure which I hate more - the eco cases or half of my cases covered in that outgassing stuff. I think I hate the outgassing more. But eco cases ruin slips.

As a side note, there's a different type of blu-ray case I sometimes get from UK releases, and it's a darker blue, and slightly thicker and more durable - not so bendy, and they never, ever have an outgassing issue. So whatever those are, it's what should be the global standard. |

A) we're surrounded by plastic everywhere we turn for everything from discs to cases to electronics and phones and TVs and remotes and furniture and appliances and cars, but sure, let's drop some ultra-thin shrink wrap from board games - that will save the Earth. B) no shrink wrap means more people are getting their expensive games with scuffing and damage to the box, meaning more returns (and more waste). Some deluxe versions of games often advertise as having fancy UV gloss on the box or other such fancy packaging, only to get scratched up by the lack of protection. C) the sticky tape seals on all 4 sides that replace the shrink wrap are ... plastic! And much thicker plastic than the thin layer of shrink wrap. Doh! D) those same games often come with lots of plastic components inside anyways. Much more plastic than the shrink wrap consists of. Some publishers are switching to using more wood and less plastic components, but those take resources to manufacture, too. But that doesn't stop the companies from posturing and some people thinking it's a great change. If we're going to make any changes to improve the environment (which I'm all for), make changes where there will actually be an impact, not on something trivial that will have zero impact on the planet, like a small industry like board games. And that's the problem with Eco cases. They're the opposite of environmentally-friendly, since they often just get thrown away and replaced with better cases. And just like having no shrink wrap on games is worse for the consumer, these eco cases are worse for the customers. |

I finally picked up a pack of those SCF3 Steelbook protective boxes, which fit these Shout Halloween editions perfectly, and they're really nice! A little bit pricey for 10, but they even fit my Repo Man, Twin Peaks and other Criterion digibooks, which until now I was never able to fit into a case. Have 3 left over for if Shout does the other Halloween films next year!

I caved, got this along with 2-4 for the 25 ish price.... It looked good but I'm not sure how much better than the other release. Both looked good but color was different. I love the hardcase with this release but wish they'd gone with the og artwork because the new artwork sucks. That goes for 2-4 as well, however the films look great.
