Did anyone find the audio level on this really low. On my YSP2700 soundbar I really had to crank the volume for this...

Hey guys! I’ve been wanting to upgrade my old “Forrest Gump” DVD, should I get the 4K blu-ray or the older Blu-ray edition?

4k. Even though the DNR is sometimes applied a little too aggressively and there are an inordinate amount of prehistoric digital SFX filmouts, which are softer than the surrounding non SFX shots, the Dolby Atmos remix starts to make up for those deficiencies. Originally, the film had, basically, a 3.1 mix with little to no surround activity. |

Watched this last night. Looked fine to me. Could be better, could be worse. DNR was a bit noticeable at times, but overall didn't bother. The worst part for me was the black bars looked much more like gray, but switching to HDR-only fixed it.
Though I was probably a bit distracted by the movie itself to notice too much about the quality. ![]() ![]() |

Am I mixing up the 4k and the new bd? I thought the 4K looked bad which is why I never bothered to get it. I'm referring to this release: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Forre...202137/#Review
And if the new 4k release isn't different then why is it any better than the above release? |

When it looks good, it looks good (especially up to Vietnam where it stayed fairly consistent), but then the schizophrenic-like on/off filtering the rest of the way through the movie is frustrating. I kind of wish I never sold off the original BD for this reason alone.
I never looked at the accompanying remastered BD - the same case as the UHD? Last edited by HeavyHitter; 10-05-2021 at 06:17 PM. |

Gotta hard disagree. And seeing people so often take the worse statements like this that they specifically admit months later "warned them off purchase" is so disheartening. Honestly.
This is, at worst, a flawed release. At most honest, an inconsistent disc. At best summed up by what two already have chimed in. Saying it's mostly liked and it's good when it's good. Mine is it's pleasing for the most part -- A little more forgiving than necesary, perhaps. Hardly "travesty" evoking. But you focus on all the bad, shit takes? Yeah you'll miss out on discs that should be enjoyed by most. Like this one! This suppose backlash is always just some ludicrously hyperbolic, shambolic at times and totally vocal minority who posts 5 times a day each in the first two weeks of a release.
