Has anyone reported ordering any of the Halloween 4ks (1-5) and not received a slip?

It's like the encoder is putting all those bits in the darker portion of the frame and forgetting about the brighter bits, and it's so bad that not even the massive DV layer can fully rectify it. It's also like the qp setting for one set of frames is not the same as the others, causing that bizarre convulsing grain field.

Compression is not the same thing as bitrate, i.e. managing the bits correctly is just as important as how many of them are being used.

FR has better compression by uglier colours.

Has anyone else experienced significant white speckling (always on the left side)during more than a couple of dark scenes? I'm asking because it looked a bit suspicious and might be a faulty disc. I looked at the same scenes several times and my eyes maybe deceived me, but it looked like the speckling didn't occure at the exact same places. Usually there's nothing odd with some speckling, especially in older movies, but these looked odd

I've been listening to the mono mix on this one lately, and I really like it now. It doesn't have the force of the Atmos track and some of the synth hits in that one are really nice (especially the opening credits), but it seems to me like the dialogue is easier to hear in the mono. It also feels more appropriate to me when it plays, the Atmos mix sounds bigger than the movie at times (I have the same problem with Phantasm's surround mix), and the peace of mind knowing it's all the original effects is admittedly nice.

Can anyone tell me is this still sold with the slip box in the states? I bought 1-3 on import to the UK back in December at the time I was in the process of moving house and got really stressed. Only now do I see that the ebay seller sent me Halloween 2 twice and no Halloween 1 4K. I really need to complete my set so I have ordered it from Amazon USA. But I am worried it will arrive with no slip box so it wont match the other two movies on my shelf.

Are you referring to the Lionsgate slipcover or Scream Factory slipcase? If the latter, then yes you will receive the slipcase. The slipcover from Lionsgate would have to be ordered through an ebay seller since that's long out of print.

I'm pretty sure those slips are standard to those sets, not limited.

I understand the 4K UHD of Halloween has pretty bad compression, but does anyone know if the included Blu-ray has better compression?

Personally this is one of the creepist moments in the movie for me. It gives off the impression he's trying to re-live his sister's murder.

I took a quick look at the included Blu-ray, wayyy back when this came out, and the grain just seemed kinda mushy to me. The 4K disc has so much sharper and tighter grain, it's a no brainer for me. And in fact, I pulled the included Blu-ray out of there altogether and substituted (as my own Blu-ray backup) the version of the Halloween 35th Anniversary edition that was in the boxed set, with the correct mono. But I'll never watch that again, 'cuz my go-to now is the 4K disc, no question.

I've been kind of leaning on finally picking this up as I own the Lionsgate UHD BD. However, I hope the compression issues of the UHD BD are minimal enough in motion.

I love the new UHD; I don't see ANY of the compression issues in motion, except maybe a little -- if I looked for it, which I don't -- on that bright shot of the Haddonfield street sign before the camera reveals Loomis in the phone booth. Easily the best release Halloween has ever had, for my money -- and I've bought 'em all, all the way back to the first Media Entertainment VHS tape (I still miss their logo at the beginning). It's my #4 favorite flick of all time, and this 4K disc gets my full endorsement.

Yes, II is a great UHD as well... except for that one inexcusable glitch you'll see pages and pages written about, which I don't see at all on my system.

Are there any or a lot of Dolby Vision Projectors to buy/available? I'm only seeing HDR. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places...
