"Later" could mean anything...not necessarily in 2019.

As I've posted before my suspicion is HBO will hold the 4K until the prequel series debut. it's a win-win for them. Sell people on the Complete Series Blu-ray only, sell people on S1 and S8 in 4K in the meantime. Then tie in a 4K UHD set in a year or so. Bill Hunt is right that it likely does take time to complete the 4K HDR grades for the UHD set anyway. You're talking, what, like 80 hours of footage...thats like the equivalent of 40 movies when you think about it...
thats true, but I think, they started sooner, it's not like they are only to go work on those 4K now? right?

What are the chances of the behind the scenes documentary that they shot for this last season being released with a non collectors edition set? That’s the only real special feature I care about.

Yeah they are but I’m wondering if it will be exclusive to the Collectors Edition set when it’s released.

Now that I'm catching up with season 7, I'm hoping they release the rest of the seasons individually. the show hasn't impressed me since season 4, it's pretty trash after that

I wanted them to at least release season 2 individually because I haven't enjoyed the show after that, and even in season 2 I only liked Blackwater.

Once the showrunners ran out of story guidance from George "Mr. Slowpoke" Martin, the show became a lot less cohesive and kind of aimless. They just filled it up with a lot of filler and when that didn't work more gratuitous T 'n' A and graphic, Hard R violence.

I don't think they cared about Martin's guidance from the start tbh.

Season 6 was my least favorite. They should learn that three episodes do not make a season.

And three or four plot developments don't make a book, yet George RR Martin released A Feast for Crows

I love the books, but this narrative that Game of Thrones crashed without the source material is silly because 1) The show's problems started right when the books' problems did, post-A Storm of Swords/Season 4, and 2) Season 6 (whatever your opinion of it) is exceptional, climaxing with the best episode the show has ever produced.

I disagree on everything you said. Characters' journeys and development doesn't need to be always action packed and full of shocking twists. This is exactly the problem with films nowadays - no one has the patience for the second act.
The show did it and left viewers numb at the end, rewatching the show doesn't bring me any interest because it lacks substance, it's all about the spectacles, it's all about the shocking twists. The books are not, they might have had a slower pace after the third one, but it gave characters the time to ponder on all the trauma they've been through in the first three books. The show didn't do that and some people might prefer that and that's fine, but it also made their triumph unearned and unsatisfying in my opinion.

To be honest, I'm still on the first season and can't find any compelling reason to finish it. I'm just not that absorbed into it. I'd rather watch my Blu-ray collection of The X-Files, which I do. And I've already watched all the seasons of it once. To me, Game of Thrones is nothing more than Dallas in a fantasy setting. I never liked Dallas.

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but usually finishing the 1st season is a good barometer of if you’ll like the show.

I’m with The Dark Shape in that I thought Season 6 was one of the better seasons and had two of the best episodes of the series in it. 6/9 and 6/10 are on par with almost any 1-2 episode gathering that’s been put on air thus far. For me George got stuck in all his twists and turns and now is having trouble unraveling then to get to the end he has planned. Books 4/5 were plodding to me and it took great effort to finish them. I cut the show some slack as the source material didn’t lend itself to pointing to an ending anytime soon. We’d be on season 8 and still at the same point of season 5. Everyone likes the show and books for different reasons and there’s nothing wrong with not liking either or both I AM happy though we will get an ending period.

I agree, and that's why I think Season 7 fell a bit flat. I just don't think it applies all that much to Season 6.

So I acquired a set and just jumped in at Ep. 8 and I am in awe of how good this looks. The Varys and Ned scenes are ::chefs kiss::

I never noticed the Game of Thrones 4K 1st season has a different cover than the Blu-ray cover. On the 4K cover it is just a picture of the Iron Throne on the Blu-ray cover Ned is sitting on the Iron Throne.

These price drops are making it hard to resist buying the set.
