I wanted them to at least release season 2 individually because I haven't enjoyed the show after that, and even in season 2 I only liked Blackwater.

Once the showrunners ran out of story guidance from George "Mr. Slowpoke" Martin, the show became a lot less cohesive and kind of aimless. They just filled it up with a lot of filler and when that didn't work more gratuitous T 'n' A and graphic, Hard R violence. |

And three or four plot developments don't make a book, yet George RR Martin released A Feast for Crows
![]() I love the books, but this narrative that Game of Thrones crashed without the source material is silly because 1) The show's problems started right when the books' problems did, post-A Storm of Swords/Season 4, and 2) Season 6 (whatever your opinion of it) is exceptional, climaxing with the best episode the show has ever produced. |

The show did it and left viewers numb at the end, rewatching the show doesn't bring me any interest because it lacks substance, it's all about the spectacles, it's all about the shocking twists. The books are not, they might have had a slower pace after the third one, but it gave characters the time to ponder on all the trauma they've been through in the first three books. The show didn't do that and some people might prefer that and that's fine, but it also made their triumph unearned and unsatisfying in my opinion. |

To be honest, I'm still on the first season and can't find any compelling reason to finish it. I'm just not that absorbed into it. I'd rather watch my Blu-ray collection of The X-Files, which I do. And I've already watched all the seasons of it once. To me, Game of Thrones is nothing more than Dallas in a fantasy setting. I never liked Dallas.

I’m with The Dark Shape in that I thought Season 6 was one of the better seasons and had two of the best episodes of the series in it. 6/9 and 6/10 are on par with almost any 1-2 episode gathering that’s been put on air thus far. For me George got stuck in all his twists and turns and now is having trouble unraveling then to get to the end he has planned. Books 4/5 were plodding to me and it took great effort to finish them. I cut the show some slack as the source material didn’t lend itself to pointing to an ending anytime soon. We’d be on season 8 and still at the same point of season 5. Everyone likes the show and books for different reasons and there’s nothing wrong with not liking either or both ![]() |
