Isn’t the 2013 grade the one that turns the green leaves of Los Angeles into golden brown “autumn” leaves? I hate that. It most certainly isn’t closer to the “original color timing” (whatever that might have been) than the 2007 disc. It’s just a matter of personal preference for me.

It has the "original Blu-ray color timing"; don't be fooled by that weird verbiage on the disc descriptions.

Wrong. The 2013 transfer restored the original look of the original theatrical exhibition in 1978. This is how the film looked before all the DVDs and Blu-rays altered the film's colors in order to make it look and feel more like autumn.

The 2013 is darker and desaturated compared to the 2007. The desaturation elicits a “yuck” reaction in me, for whatever reason. The version I’ve seen the most over the course of my life has been the Media VHS (the one that came right after the very first “Meda” videocassette release), which I bought circa 1987. It could be that my memory of that presentation is incorrect, but the 2007 Blu-Ray feels closer to what I remember being the original home video color grade, regardless of how accurate to the original 35mm theatrical showings that might have been.

The 2007 disc uses one of those notorious divimax transfers that Anchor Bay used to create during the mid and late 2000s. Many of them have been proven to look absolutely wrong. Halloween is no exception. But be happy to believe what you believe. More power to you.

I thought the first 4K (Lionsgate) looked very similar to the 2013 Blu-ray.

The best thing about it is the legacy commentary with Carpenter, Hill, and Curtis.

Just because the movie was filmed in the spring doesn’t mean the leaves are supposed to be green. They had bags of dead leaves that they utilized during production to try and mask that it was being filmed in March/April.

Yet his supervised transfers on the 2013 Blu-Ray and both 4Ks look closer in colour timing to every pre-2003 release, notably the 1998 orange VHS set that used the original camera negative for its transfer. Go figure.

My unpopular opinion is that I’ve always hated that commentary track. I’m typically not a fan of the “take multiple individual interviews and splice them together for a commentary track,” and it feels like most of the stuff they mention in the commentary is just repeated in the Halloween Unmasked and A Cut Above the Rest documentaries. It predates them since it’s from the laserdisc, but it’s one of the things I don’t give a repeat listen to.

Or you could've just also included the second half of my post that explains my sentence that you quoted.
