^That clip sure is curious. There have been other reports of 35mm print screenings looking closer to the 2013 BD though but I'll say this. Joe Bob Briggs stated on one of his Last Drive In episodes when he covered Halloween that Dean Cundey said he specifically copied the color palette of the film Chinatown for Halloween and up until seeing this clip I had no idea what he meant.

Sadly with a lot of these 35mm fan scans, the pertinent details which should be easy to provide usually aren't disclosed so it's hard to tell whether something could be accurate or not.

I've not seen an original 35mm print of Halloween in a long time and I can't remember the daytime scenes looking that orange at all. The reason why I've not seen an original print in so long is because Halloween came out right between the end of IB Tech printing in the US and before the introduction of LPP so the original US prints went magenta long ago.

IB Tech printing continued internationally for a few years after it was discontinued in the US although I'm not sure if Halloween ever had IB Tech prints at all. This could all be cleared up if the owner of the print could actually provide pictures of the reels showing any codes.

That is definitely a fading Eastman print. No question. The blues and greens are just about gone. I used to have an original 16mm and while the color was starting to turn while I had it, it wasn't anywhere near that bad.

Never heard of an IB Tech Halloween. I've only heard of Eastman 35mm US prints of the theatrical version in circulation (some LPP tv prints on 16mm and I think some foreign Afgacolor prints).

I want to watch Halloween from inside a shark aquarium smeared with yellow and teal gels and mono sound through a tin can on a string it doesn't get no better than that

Sounds like the l'immagine Ritrovata transfer of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

I've never heard of an IB Tech Halloween either and such a print existing would seem unlikely. I wondered if the 35mm print footage was an attempt to inject some color into a faded print. I just don't understand what the point of a comparison with a faded print would accomplish or why someone would want to regrade the Blu-ray to match a faded print.

None of that tells me how a mono track is better than an Atmos track though.

My ears hear cleaner audio, more audio, louder, boomier audio coming out of my speakers with the Atmos track. How is a mono track, which is typically low key and I have to turn my system up really high to get the same effect, better.

I hope that makes sense.

It was and then they devolved us back to the land of the Laserdisc monkeys. Hopefully we get some Laserdisc Halloween audio and color timing on 4K soon

It's been explained over and over again. If you don't get it, don't worry about it. You just simply have no idea what you're talking about.

For literally the reasons we mentioned. For some people it’s content over quality and further more the mono included on the 4K is an inferior version of the mono anyways so it’s not exactly a fair comparison. Case and point I think the mono included on the BD/4K of Jaws is dull in spots but given how much I hate the revised sound effects in the Atmos mix the mono they’ve included is the track for me. Not the best quality wise but if I’m gonna feel at home with the movie that’s what I got. You’re more for the quality aspect of the track, but for others there’s other things that are being considered.
