Those covers are ass, but yeah they’re less offensive than Shout’s first round by Joel Robinson. The Wal-Mart slipcover exclusive is more appealing.

The idea of buying this new steelbook, with marginally better artwork, and then you open it up and you see the Yankee Candle Michael Myers art from Joel Robinson on the 4K disc face… a mishmash of incongruous and terrible fan art. Gauche, ghastly, grotesque!

You know what, I hate the Joel Robinson art so much that I would have easily bought these had Shout just included the third Halloween disc with the TV cut but they couldn’t even be bothered to do that, yet they included it for Part II. I’m convinced that Shout is just trolling at this point

It really just seems like the majority of members despise anything that isn't original theatrical artwork...

The ridiculous lightning bolt and the dominant purple scheme are what really ruin that design in my mind. Why why WHY can graphic designers not let go of that purple-orange gradient fade? It’s a fad that’s been going on for way too long, it’s sooooo played out.

I can probably count on one hand the number of newly commissioned works of art from a boutique or major studio that have bested the original poster or key art. And no, Shout’s tacky artwork for Halloween is certainly not among those.

Really not much reason to be excited about it, unless you just really didn't like the previous slip art. It is interesting that it's technically a new set though since it omits the third disc.
They’ve always been for Warner and Universal titles. Shout also uses SDS for distribution, so it makes sense.

It was wishful thinking but I'm guessing Shout won't actually update anything. They Live, Prince of Darkness and Return of the Living Dead were not updated in the Steelbooks and all have problems that could easily be fixed.

Unfortunately, there's always that crowd that are willing to buy anything new put in front of them for completionist or collectors' sake. I try to tell people all the time, sometimes, speaking with your wallet in fact means not spending the money.

With the Shouts at least you have the original art with the reverse slip and can do whatever with the box.

I know, thank god for that, but I don’t even want that artwork on the disc face. I would feel like a chump every time I took it out to watch it. Plus it gives me the hives. I would buy the Wal-mart exclusive slipcover release if it had even just their new art (lame as it is) on the disc face itself.

Well I for one don’t think they should be allowed to! And I think someone should look very strongly into putting a stop to this “marketplace freedom” concept or whatever it is. It’s clearly not working so well!

I'm not saying they can't. I'm just saying, it's hard to really "send a message" to companies like Shout! when there are still those who are willing to give up their money.

Not necessarily. I personally prefer these to the OG posters. Different franchise I know but I’m just illustrating.

I get that art is subjective and I myself am pretty picky about it, having collected posters for a few years. But my goodness, even a lot of the stuff poster boutique's like Mondo and Mad Duck would put out for titles like Halloween looked so shoddy and pasted together. For the record, if it was a matter of purchasing a poster for my wall, I would choose neither the Robinson art or what is on these new steelbook's.

Think about why that may be for an extended period of time and if you circle back to "ugh you just hate new things" you really don't get it, sorry to say

Amen, brother. This needs a re-do by Arrow. They can use the same underlying 4K scan, just get better mono audio and a Fidelity In Motion encode, use the damn original art (even if it’s just for their site-exclusive Original Art edition) and we’re good! The Lionsgate 4K is out of print!
