I have a strange feeling Arrow is going to be releasing it.

I wonder how much of this (and Shout's SB strategy in general) is intentional to spite SteelBook collectors who'll buy anything just because it's a Steel

Arrow doing the series or even just the first film would be a mic drop, I would sell all the Shout discs instantly

Does he think there's been no complaints about them continually doing repackages in steelbooks? Does he think if we complain enough Shout will suddenly re-do the 4K disc in the Steelbook, which is something they have NEVER done?

Their Steels definitely come across as easy cash grabs to me, especially since they all have intentionally come after the standard case releases. I can't really blame them though, it's easy money especially if it sells.

Then......obviously I'm not criticizing everyone as you want to imply I am?

EVERY single SF steelbook thread has people asking if issues will be fixed (ROTLD audio, They Live & Prince of Darkness color space, etc, etc), and some people feel the need to be rude about people asking.

I cannot believe I have to literally spell this out plainly for some people here, but yeah, SF doesn't feel the need to improve things that the packaging-obsessed collectors are going to jump in and buy anyway.

SO, if you're not itching to get something, THEN I'm obviously not referring to you. I can't believe people need that spelled out.

And for those who just roll over and accept that SF "never" improves anything as if that never they never can or will, that's on you, people who ask if they can or will don't need rude and condescending remarks. And if you feel that you're not behaving that way, then obviously I'm not talking about you.

Steelbooks have become unspecial. I wonder why the company just doesn't offer custom printing for like $20 a pop to replace every movie case someone owns, many would do it. It seems like things used to get Steels if it was an event or anniversary, but the same can be said for limited editions now. Everything has a Steelbook or a limited no matter how insignificant, iconic or saturated the movie is. Those are the two ways to get max retail from people in a short amount of time over plain cases that most wait to go on sale, slipcovers are old hat. I wonder how many of these Shout will do or just stop at the first two. Maybe their license is expiring soon. Will be an ugly pairing to still have H20, Curse and Resurrection in the hard cases and the first two or even in the first 5 in Steelbooks.

I wouldn’t mind a new release that uses the photo on the old Blockbuster VHS. But Donald Pleasence should have top billing. Or at least second. Why is he listed after an actress who had a very small role?

The only true physical media is the original camera negative.

This is one of Shout’s cash cows. I’m surprised it took this long for them to release other editions. They also now have the digital license to the Trancas-owned films.

As for a UK release, I could see Arrow or Second Sight releasing this. Do we even know who has overseas rights to Halloween 1, 4, and 5? IIRC, it’s not Trancas. Also Lionsgate has overseas rights to 2 and 3, going off of the back cover for the Via Vision releases.

I’m not saying PJ Soles deserves second-billing, but her supporting role is pretty significant, and at one time she would’ve been the third most famous actor in the cast after Pleasance and Curtis.
