I am really hoping this release includes the 101 minutes international cut!

Yep. I always watch it around Black Friday. It's one of my pre-Christmas movies. So is Ghostbusters 2 and Lethal Weapon.

Cliff, are you able to advise (or even hint) if the international cut will be available on this or a future release? Ie, is there ANY interest in putting it out domestically? I know you're limited in what you can say, but I am curious if I'll need to look into importing it.

It seems odd that Expendables 1 & 3 and Rambo would all get alternate cuts put out and this wouldn't, when this is already finished.

Aww, that’s a huge bummer. Looks like I’ll have to import (assuming other territories get it, that is).

I'm really hoping somewhere gets the international cut on 4K. I was bummed to learn after seeing it here in the UK that there was a longer version available elsewhere. No fair!

There really is no excuse not to release it on the disc. Rambo had both cuts and Lionsgate is superb about offering 100 GB discs with DV. The 3rd Expendables is another title where they need to release a version with both cuts as the extended is better and the black levels were incorrect in the first place.

It is a little nuts having to potentially go overseas for an alternate cut of a US film.

This is really going to affect my OCD, as I have the Lionsgate 4K releases with shiny slips of the first four Rambo films. But no longer cut, no sale. Period.

Very curious if the international markets get the longer cut. I'll definitely import if that's the case.

Does anyone know off hand which countries got the extra footage and where we should start looking?

Edit: "Brought to our attention over on Reddit, the scene takes place at the start of the film and sees Rambo trying to save a trio of hikers during a flash flood. Thanks to various comments we’ve been able to gather that the sequence kicked off the movie in Australia, Mexico, Sweden, Brazil and Finland, but the entire thing was definitely cut for its release in many countries."

Not exactly the most import friendly countries or places that get special releases....

US/Canada and the UK are the only markets which got the shorter cut. It was a Lionsgate decision, not a production company decision.

So literally any other market will have the longer cut, at least on regular Blu-ray. However I know that in Australia at least, the Last Blood distributor (Roadshow) sources their 4K discs from Lionsgate. So it remains to be seen if the Aussie 4K release has the longer cut. I’m not sure which international distributors do their own 4K encoding. Those that do will surely have the longer cut on 4K.

We’ll have to wait and see.

Looks like if I wanna see the 101 minute version of this movie, I'd probably have to import. Keeping my eye on either the German release by Universum Film or the French release by Metropolitan Films. Never understood why Lionsgate had to cut that 12 minutes out on the US/UK version.

Well, Amazon.de (for whatever that's worth, which, admittedly, isn't usually much) does list a 100 minute runtime for their UHD disc. FNAC.com shows 117 minutes for the Metropolitan Films release, so that's of no help either way. I'd prefer the FNAC one because it's cheaper, it comes out sooner than the German release, their shipping is lightning fast, and they protect their shipments exponentially better than Amazon, but at this point, I'd prefer more proof that it's unedited.

I've never bought anything from Metropolitan before, are their included blu-rays typically region free?

Hilarious how people always complain that the original theatrical cut should be included, but now people are complaining that a cut that didn't even play in every market be included or it's "no sale." No wonder studios don't listen to "fans" anymore.

(*And at the same time, people are content with buying the 4K of Angel Heart, which is censored per overseas guidelines, but that's no big deal. Gotta keep up that outrage, it's 2019!)
