Stars , numbers 100, sites ratings systems choices are what they are. bottom line, they gave it a very, very good written review,
to support the ratings given.

so, don't get hang up on the numbers or stars.

Just skimming through the 4K UHD disc Dolby Vision.

The first 7 chapters looks horrendous. Definitely something wrong with the DV as I am seeing elevated blacks and had to bring down the brightness from 50 to 44 to make it look watchable. Still doesn't look good. Going to check the HD10 version now.

Update:

Same with HDR10. Looks washed out on my LG65C8.

Looks a bit better at 44 but I am not convinced with the PQ, not because of the film grain but it looks washed out.

So it does look better when the action descends to Earth but the black levels does look elevated. HDR usage is nice in the city sequences

Lol. Just watching this and said immediately that this disc is going to sort the men from the boys

Everyone familiar with Superman knows we've got it all here, baby - sections with heavy grain, haziness, softness - you name it. To my eyes it looks immensely faithful to the source and I love what i'm seeing so far.

Calling it now, there's going to be a shitload of bad amazon reviews for this one . It's perhaps the furthest thing from that clean, crisp look that many people want from the 4K UHD format. Crow is going to have a heart attack

Ok, I gotta get back to it.

Just finished watching this in Dolby Vision, and was very impressed.

The movie has never looked this detailed IMO, HDR, and color are all impressive. Everything looks crisp while still retaining the "dreamy haze", for lack of a better term. A nice fine layer of grain is present throughout. The only time where I thought the presentation dropped was after Superman opened up the kryptonite box. It went soft/fuzzy for a few seconds, but other than that the movie kept it's sharpness. Detail really shines when it comes to clothing textures, particularly on the different suits Luthor and Otis wear. Shadow detail was fine, and I didn't experience the raised blacks that the poster above did. The parts in Kansas and in California are very impressive, with clean, bright colors throughout the wilderness and countryside.

HDR/WCG really enhances the picture. The scene with Jor-el and the council after they send Zod away was crazy good as I've never seen their white suits look as detailed and bright. The red shirt on teenage Clark at 26:57 stood out as as deep a red that I can remember. The scene in the library where Luthor almost falls was great as the books looked really colorful, the lights popped, and Ms Tessmacher looked like Ms Tessmacher. The colors are incredibly deep and lush throughout this movie, particularly the reds.

I have to give credit to WB. They did a great job with this. They didn't get out of control with the HDR eye candy as I had feared, and everything just feels like it was done right. This is still one of my favorite super hero movies, easily top 5.

Are you watching in DV of HDR10?

I know how this should look and not expecting this to look pristine like the YouTube HDR demo videos but the black levels appears elevated on the in-scope picture which washed out the already soft diffused looking picture.

HDR10. I went back and checked out those first few chapters you mentioned. Contrast is nice, nothing's looking washed out. The black levels in the space stuff in chapter 7 look very rich

black level is fine, but the darkness seems a tad in obscuring detail in her face. I'm sure it's fine in motion.

Just to be clear, do you mean the lossy DD 5.1 right?

Because Atmos is the only lossless track.
