I seem to be one of the few who actually likes the artwork for the new Amazon steelbook 4K release, but I really can't justify buying it, especially at $45. I already own Shout's deluxe Blu-ray "Complete Collection" and the 4K they put out a few years ago. Given that the steelbook brings nothing new to the table, I don't know that it's worth buying just because I like the packaging.

I was in a Walmart the other day and saw several copies of Halloween on 4K with the original theatrical poster artwork (slipcover included). Sure enough, they are from Shout, and I'm surmising they are basically standard editions of the Amazon steelbook exclusive.

Walmart also has the SF 4K with a glow in the dark orange slipcover in stores. Not sure if that’s the one you’re referring to though.

Interesting, I hadn’t heard they’d done a classy OG artwork slipcover for this Halloween season. Another Wal*Mart exclusive, I presume?

Yup, along with a bunch of other exclusive glow in the dark slipcovers. The only other Scream Factory title I saw at my store was one for the Vincent Price Volume 1 collection.

To clarify, I’ve known about the glow-in-the-dark one since it was announced months ago, but like you, I’m wondering if drownsoda was describing an altogether different slipcover that has the original poster art on it, and not just on the inner sleeve underneath the slipcover.

I’m not seeing it on Wal*Mart’s website or for resale on eBay. Only the glow-in-the-dark slipcover version.

I took the bait and purchased this… disc art is new and they moved around a few features for the second disc.

Sorry all, I should've clarified—I believe the one I saw at Walmart was the glow-in-the-dark slipcover edition. I took the slipcover off out of curiosity, and the front artwork was the standard classic poster; I did notice that the back cover was a bit different than that of the 4K edition that Shout put out back in 2021 (which was originally packaged with a rigid slip box, and with a standard thinner slipcover on subsequent releases if I remember correctly). It was also two discs as opposed to three. I'm just assuming the discs on this release are identical to the new Amazon steelbook.

Wow. If only they’d used that disc art that you get with the Amazon exclusive steelbooks on the Wal-mart exclusive slipcover edition, I’d buy the latter just to be able to watch it in 4K this season (and then re-sell before Imprint or Arrow’s inevitable standalones are released).

The disc faces inside the Wal-mart exclusive slipcover edition are actually the old disc faces with the corny Michael Myers leaf blower artwork, according to forum member gj217.

So they used a steelbook that can hold three discs yet they used only two discs? They even authored a new disc for this two disc version and they couldnt even fix the dang 4K!?!? WTF SF!? If they had just used the same disc 2 and changed nothing they could've just explained it away as its easier to simply change the disc art. But this is beyond stupid and lazy on their part. Now there is no excuse that they couldn't finally fix the encodes for 1 and 2

That would require work. This is just marketing to steelbook lovers.

He’s just sitting the disc on the left side of the cover for the photo. There’s no disc hub there.

If they authored a new bluray they could author a new 4k

The same can be said for the steelbooks for Prince of Darkness and They Live (wrong color space) and Return of the Living Dead (mislabeled audio.) They used the same discs but new art.

Just curious but what exactly did they move around on disc 2?

I know Halloween 2 has the infamous titty glitch, but what was wrong with the 4K for the original?

Poor encoding if you're using HDR10. DV is good. Flickering when using DV on Panasonic players and certain TV's.
