In other words, green matrix is invention of the sequels. So what "original look" are you talking about?
Like I said the extent and means evolved during filming. http://www.whoaisnotme.net/articles/2002_0814_rep.htm

Owen mentioned that the blue/green colour bias really came into being DURING the shoot, so that when the Neo interrogation scene was filmed in a cream room(with no green tonings) the director of photography, Bill Pope, shot with a green bias..and then they continued this throughout the film.
In 2004 for the UMC release it was graded scene by scene and with digital means. This time too. It's not replicating the original which had an inconsistent look to it regarding how green each scene was because it evolved during production. It's a new execution, meant to be consistent.

Yes, my point was that the level of green is different than the original theatrical compared to the blu-ray and 4k version. Not trying to argue its completely absent.

Pretty much all versions, including fanmade scans and camrips, have *some* green. If someone claims it was entirely absent then "lol".

Put a gel over the lens and you get an in-camera tint, just like how people used filters over the lens to shoot tungsten film in daylight and vice versa.

I see what you mean. Well, how close to theatrical presentation it is is hard to verify without a print at hand. But the green was already there, and not just some random green like on that crappy 2.0 scan, but actual separation of blue and green, even if not as consistent as on UMC. Bill Hunt said colors are more naturalistic, it leads me to believe some of it is natural and not just rolled up green tint in color balance tab. Remains to be seen.

What a time back in the day of getting a bootlegged tape. Probably not the best reference as it being an old digital or cassette tape-based camera duped from a VHS or two but it gives a good general idea. Those images from Bill Pope look gorgeous. Can’t wait!

Still looks green to me. Looks simply like the limited tech of DVD couldn't showcase the colour as intended.

Neo’s face isn’t green on the 1st DVD or Laserdisc, that came later.

I will be 100% satisfied in October when the sequels have also been released and the trilogy is complete on UHD. I know most people prefer the first one but I don't really like to watch it as a stand alone movie. I'm actually looking forward in seeing Reloaded on UHD the most...

I didn't intend to wait and now, after two "whoa" reviews, it's physically impossible for me.
