The only Blu-ray that currently has the original Halloween II audio in 2.0 stereo is the universal Blu-ray (its cheap - https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Hallo...Blu-ray/19651/ ), which is a dirtier print but also a bit less processed. Just make sure you get the CORRECTED universal disc because the first H2 Universal disc mistakenly didn't have lossless audio. Amazon carries the correct H2 Universal discs. SO IMO, right now your best bet is: Halloween Boxset + Halloween II Universal Disc (corrected) This is the only way to get the correct audio on Halloween I & II. Whether the H2/H3 a/v on the upcoming Shout! steels will be better is yet to be seen, as they seem hit and miss. While Lifeforce saw some decent gains, Platoon actually looks worse than the first Blu-ray. If Shout! simply ports over the 2.0 they used in H2 in the box set, again it will not be the correct original audio. Last edited by Ruined; 09-20-2018 at 10:12 PM. |

Although I still want to know why such a thing as a mono downmix of a 7.1 track even exists. 2-channel stereo I understand, but mono? Quote:

Aye, I don't think that the inclusion of it was intentional in any way, shape or form. They just made the same mistake that Anchor Bay did with the 35th BD, humans gonna human.

Okay thanks, I wasn't sure myself. I vaguely remembered the 5.1 on the THX still having the click of the empty chamber at the end, and the proper speeding up of the music after the "Hey Jerk, speed Kills" parts which I associate with the original sound and which were nixed in the later surround mix but again I'm probably misremembering.

No doubt I'm being far too cynical and conspiratorial but as someone already mentioned why would you even fold a 7.1 to mono in the first place! |
