This movie was responsible for getting me into Massive Attack and into trip hop in general, still love and listen to the Mezzanine album to this day. The film is still an all time fav of mine as well and will likely be day 1ing the UHD.

Well that's a real letdown if true. Almost borders on being a, dare I say it, half assed release to me then. It's like releasing Batman Begins but not the sequels. Now I understand some of you might only care for the first one but me, I would like to have all of them since I enjoyed the sequels very much.

I wish these movie companies would stop releasing only selected movies from franchises on UHD. Just release them all, both as a boxset and individual releases for those that don't care for all movies. Everybody happy.

Anyway I really hope you're wrong, Jez.

What are the odds we'll get the original colour timing?

If we do, how many people will crap on it calling it revisionist?

I agree and enjoyed all 3. I was just thinking to myself yesterday that a catalogue release to get excited about hasn’t come around for a bit (yes-subjective statement). But this straightened me right out!

I agree - especially when the series was filmed close together, had the same cast, had good continuity and all that. I get why a series like Alien or Terminator or maybe Jaws would get split up - those series whad a lot of time pass between them, fragmented stories, different cast/directors, you name it.

But The Matrix? Releasing just the first film? WTF? Im not buying it, thats for sure. No rush on my part. The industry needs to understand that many of us are NOT "chomping at the bit" as much as we were with the DVD>blu-ray upgrades. I'm perfectly content to wait out releases when they meet my desires. Not buying this only to have the whole saga released as a box set later on. I think the first movie is clearly better than the sequels but when the first one ends I feel I need MORE Matrix than just that. Neo at the end "finds" himself and the adventure is just beginning!

Or, if they only release the first movie then Ill just sit tight with my blu-ray set which has excellent PQ/AQ. UGH!

The first Matrix is as self-contained as Alien, The Terminator or Jaws. Regardless of how much time there is between the original and the sequels.

I will buy in when I can get the entire trilogy. This is the third time they are selling me this franchise, I have the patience to wait them out now.

Damn straight! Same here. Love the first flick, day one purchase (if they deliver a worthy upgrade...and it almost has to be considering the dated BD digibook I have).

All I want are the Matrix and the Animatrix. I don't like the rest, I need to cut down on my UHD spending, and I already have the blus, so I'll have to be fine.

I disagree. Sure, it works as a stand-alone film and doesnt end on some cliff-hanger but me and many others want "more" in that universe per se.

hey - its cool, those that like only the first film can buy this release. The rest of us will simply wait.

I personally don't mind the sequels, I simply don't enjoy them enough to own them.

I have no problem with people wanting the whole franchise. If you can wait, it's up to you, of course.

Not sure if I can wait tbh. I'll probably end up getting the first one just the same. I do hope that when/if the sequels are going to be released, there will be individual releases. If not, I'll still get the boxset and will have to sell the standalone first movie.

Pff... You see, WB, you should have just released them all at once.

Yeah, I'm on the fence if I want the sequels. I never bought them on BD, but caught some of them on cable recently and they might be interesting to revisit especially on UHD BD. I would rather buy them separately so I can possibly just sell them off and just keep the first movie.

Separation masters are usually 3 positive film elements (IPs) in black and white. When printed on colour negative film they render a duplicate colour negative.
