I picked this up today as I was at BestBuy. I got home and opened the packaging to find no digital code included. I have submitted a query via Universal's website. Has anybody else experienced this, with this or any other movie?

I've encountered 3, I think. it happens. someone skillfully cut the wrapper to remove the redeem slip? idk, I thought mine were all perfect shrink wrapped. but all 3 times were solved by contacting the publisher directly, required to show them some "proof of ownership" and they issued me new codes. So minor inconvenience, but no problem at all.

Happened to me at Bestbuy with Scarface. Never had that problem before. Studio was unresponsive unfortunately. Made a trip back to BB and luckily they exchanged for a new one.

I would say I've gotten extra codes a lot more often then no code at all.

Watched this disc at home today.
Stunning looking and amazing sounding. The movie was fun. The story was fine, the superhero powers didn't go too far and it had all of the 'simply not possible' action scenes and physics the series is known for. The acting was fine too. Good really. The two leads compliment each other well and had some funny back and forth at times. The effects were great for the most part but they must have really been stretched for time and budget because a few scenes were not acceptable at all. Some of the cars looked like cardboard cutouts their CG models were so lowly detailed and animated. Really disappointing because otherwise it was a fairly high quality production. Visually, this is one of the very best looking UHD discs. Just goes to show, native 4K isn't everything. This looked super sharp and detailed, crystal clear, had superb colours, pretty much perfect really. It's a shame some bad CGI let it down. The Atmos was just as demo worthy. What a disc! Guns, cars, explosions, rain, beautiful backdrops (though I'm sure Samoa was probably filmed in Hawaii like everything else these days) and one incredible chase scene with overhead drones zipping by your ears. A couple things really bugged me movie-wise. The Transformers sound on the chopper scene at the end was just odd. Especially since it wasn't used on the transforming bike. And that last showdown in Samoa began in the dark of night. Judging by the countdown timer, 9 minutes passed in the movie and suddenly it was midday. It was one of the strangest things I've seen. Anyway all of that aside it was a fun action flick. Pretty incredible how the series has evolved, superstar names, superhero spin offs. I'm glad this one had the Samoa scenes as well, keeping with the series' family themes. An absolute demo disc if there ever was one. |

Oh mai, this one is real purty. I only watched it on my 55" OLED, snuggled in my bedroom (as opposed to the 65" in the living room), but I like what I saw. Right from the start, really tight and pleasing textures - just look at the facial hair on Idris Elba. Plus the HDR really works to bring out all the highlights in lower light, in addition to giving more vibrancy to the colourful lighting throughout the film. It's razor-sharp and detailed - well, except for the drone stock footage around the 9:30 mark which is littered with video artefacts, but that was there in the cinema. (Seriously, I spent $400 to hire a professional drone operator for my own feature film, and he filmed in 4K and the footage looks superb. But apparently big studio movies can't afford such luxuries.)
Film itself is still a total gas. It's too long, and it's totally ridiculous, but that smirk on my face was there the whole way through. Also, Vanessa Kirby... hubba hubba. |
