I'll be getting this but not right away. I enjoyed the film when I went to see it (it wasn't my choice) and thought it was going to be just another special effects extravaganza without an interesting plot but I was pleasantly surprised how engaging it was. The last 30 minutes were a lot of fun. I like Dwayne Johnson as an actor even if he's appearing in WAY too many movies lately.

Didn't they say, that the compound that mutated them, had regenerative elements? I just assumed his wounds heal, as long as they're not to vital parts of the body. I could be wrong. I was just enjoying all the destruction and mayhem.

I just scratched my head at

You are correct about the regenerative elements, but I have no idea if they were fast enough to fix a broken arm that fast.

If It was you would think the bullet holes and the giant hole in his chest would have healed much sooner, if a broken arm can be fixed in a few minutes.

Come on, BB. You gotta do better than this if I’m gonna keep ordering from you!
I've stopped pre-ordering from BB for that reason. It's still where I get most of my UHDs, but no more pre-orders since I just got sick of always having to call them for a price match on something that should have adjusted automatically.

Edit: Also, PQ gets 4/5 stars from this site, which feels right on the money: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Rampa...203090/#Review

It's kind of a ridiculous movie. The script isn't that great either. Still, it's a bit of nice escapist fun that we enjoyed.

I wish we could've seen more of the alligator as it made it's way to Chicago. You'd think the military would've dropped a moab on the wolf and George before getting to Chicago since they were tracking them anyway, but the story would've ended.

The monster animals looked really good. The fine hair of George's fur was quite noticeable. The scars and wrinkles on the wolf looked great and the alligator's scales were great, too.

I watched on our OLED and the movie seemed pretty bright to my eyes. I took the OLED light from 30 to 20 which helped. When we first got the TV I had it at 50, then went to 40, 30 and now 20.

The sound was pretty amazing, IMO. I liked how clear it was and the explosions and roars were pretty awesome. It wasn't as loud as I liked, but no complaints whatsoever.

For a fun escapist ride, this fits the bill. Just crank it up when you watch and you won't be disappointed.

So are you going to really say with a straight face that the wolf on the 4K version isn't more detailed? Come on now. It's clear as day.

Using your caps, I think the lines are more defined in the UHD. It's still got a lot of light that can affect it.

Watching on my display, and I say this without having seen the BD, the detail was pretty good. When George gets tranquilized, there is very fine hair that gently wisps about as he falls and you could make out each individual one. I can't say that it's an improvement over the BD, but it's still pretty damn good, IMO.

I picked up my copy and watched it last night. As Cynatnite said, a fun escapist movie. I had a bit more of a problem with the supporting cast, though. Malin Ackerman, Naomi Harris, and Jake Lacy did nothing for the film. I think I was a bit more annoyed by their presence than anything, and I actually generally like Malin Ackerman. I wish Marley Shelton could have had more screen time, though. Jeffrey Dean Morgan did fine and thankfully I don't think channeled too much of Negan in the film. Still despite the supporting cast being hit-or-miss, I had a fun, fun time with the movie. It was worth purchasing to me, but I can figure this might be better served as a rental for the rest of the blind-buy crowd.

Regarding picture quality, being filmed digitally, they added a solid amount of fine grain throughout. The detail was quite sharp throughout which, thankfully, also applied to the digital animals. The detail in each of the three animals was actually quite gratifying. Typical motion blur that takes the believability out of digital-created characters was pretty limited. The usage of HDR was fine, more on the reserved side of spectrum. Specular highlights glistened nicely, but I don't recall seeing anything eye-seeringly bright. Black levels were quite good throughout. The shots in space actually look like shots in space, as opposed to films like Star Wars: TLJ or other space films that turn inky space background into ink diluted with milk.

Overall a very fine presentation that adds to the enjoyment of this film.

Also, I did take a little bit of time to go through the Blu-ray as well. The blu-ray looks a bit more overcooked in the colors department. Definitely less natural versus the UHD presentation. As bitrate's screenshots show, the level of detail is noticeably muddier on the blu-ray. You can see a lot of the detail, but it is not refined and the textures on things are somewhat lost. The difference in detail to me was even more pronounced when I compared them on my TV as opposed to looking at the screenshots on my computer monitor. I also thought the improved image quality actually helped the CGI in this film. To me, the animals looked a tad less believable, especially the wolf, while I was browsing through the BD.

Watched this at my friends place the other day on his 4K HDR LG set. I was a little wary since there were so many saying the movie wasnt that good. I had an absolute blast watching this. Such a fun film. And I enjoyed all the characters. Even the cartoon villains. Although I dont recall the picture being washed out like the image above. It was extremely vibrant as it should be and plenty of detail. I'd absolutely watch this film again.

Probably because that's not how it works. You get the lowest of two prices from a)your order date or b)the price the day that it shipped.

BB.com is not like Amazon. Also if you care about these things then why do you guys put in day1 pre-orders?? That's not how it works if you are trying to get the lowest price possible.

Nope, not true.

Q: Can you ensure the price listed at the time the pre-order is placed will remain the same?

A: Yes and no. When a price is assigned to a pre-ordered item, we are reasonably certain it will remain at that price. However, from time to time — given how far in advance we make items available to our customers — a price change will occur. If this happens, you will always receive the lower of the two prices. For example, if you order an item for $49.99 and the pre-order price is later dropped to $39.99, you will be charged only $39.99. If you ordered the item at $49.99 and the price rises to $59.99, you still pay only $49.99. When you place a pre-order, you are assured our lowest prerelease price.
I have been preordering with BB for a long time, and only recently has this become unreliable.

I got to the point that I just chat with CS online and get the price change that way. It takes too long at the forum to get an answer and I start cussing if I'm put on hold when I call them.

I couldn't wait... I had a gift certificate for Target and gee golly I picked this puppy (i.e., ape, wolf, and alligator) up!

Your review seemed pretty positive, so what brings this down to a 3.5? The PQ/AQ, or the movie itself?

Best Buy gives me a refund for the difference to my Paypal if the price has dropped between when I pre-ordered and release date. Admittedly their prices haven't been dropping much lately so I haven't gotten a refund for a pre-order drop in a while, but recently I moved so I changed my shipping address for the Avengers Steelbook, and they immediately refunded me the sales tax difference.

The PQ and AQ are both good, but the characters and script aren't that great. It's escapest fun. That's why I gave it a middling score.

I find it very hard that this isn’t an Oscar contender.

I think it's been nominated for Best Picture with Really Really Big Monsters.
