I mean you're still talking about a character from a movie released like a month ago, if that's not a sign of longevity, I don't know what is

Caught this in cinemas yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. It does justice to T1 and T2, whilst giving more depth to Arnold's classic T-101, although it can be argued that it does little to progress the saga in any meaningful way. Schwarzenegger's performance was excellent and it's clear he's not coasting here.

It's a shame that audiences have stayed away thus far, it certainly seems like the end of the road for the franchise now. It was a wise move to make this a fairly contained story, but good to end on a high note.

Except that it was a pre-programmed option for a reply in the first Terminator and had nothing to do with learning.

I interpret it differently. It chose that option based on what it had learned.

I saw it the other day, I think the film lacked any organic progress, just seemed a little too forced, predictable. Hamilton, Arnold and Luna, did fairly well. The others not so much. I still like Bale's terminator the most after T1 & T2.

Agreed with all of that, especially the last part. One of the (many) complaints from the people who dislike it is that it was set up "as the start of a trilogy, it should've been a self-contained film" and I can't for the life of me understand where that's coming from. As much as people kvetch that it's a remake of T2 it borrows a lot of beats from T1 as well, including having a story that isn't about trying to defeat Skynet/Legion in the present day, it's just these people trying to fight a Terminator that's been sent back to kill the saviour of the future.

[Show spoiler]And, just like T1, it ends with Sarah driving away to prepare for the coming storm with the saviour in tow, albeit in her belly in T1 rather than by her side as in DF. I'd say that there are one or two of the loosest of ends that could be cleared up, like why she's so pally with that military dude who gives them the EMP, but then again we never knew of Enrique in T2 until Sarah pitched up on his doorstep either and we didn't exactly get a lot of insight into their relationship. And when they complain about how Grace got the co-ordinates for Carl I feel like bashing my head against the ****ing wall, it's because Dani has now been there so future Dani knows where to send Grace, which is a classic time travel loop and it works for me.

Well, glad you liked it Geoff, for me it didn’t click neither emotionally
[Show spoiler]every new character in this one acts like they’ve seen first two Terminators in the movies and knows exactly what the eff is happening
nor story-wise
[Show spoiler] The first fight with Rev 9 or whatever the new one is called, Sarah The Terminator Hunter did not finish him off because... she was distracted by the sound of the car driving away, knowing all too well how hard it would be to get a second chance on that?!
or action-wise
[Show spoiler] too generic, too cartoonish, too Fast And Furious
. Saved me some dough for something less unforgettable on 4K

Yeah this is a really entertaining action sci fi with amazing action scenes and some great FX. I wasn't crazy about some of the story choices they made but i still enjoyed the movie a lot.

It's a new Terminator, Sarah didn't know this when she was attacking it on the bridge but, as the movie later tells us (do pay attention 007), they can't destroy it with conventional weapons anyway.

Enjoyed it. Arnold's best performance since the 90's.

1. The Terminator
2. Terminator 2
3. Dark Fate

4. Salvation
5. Terminator 3
6. Genisys

Yes Arnie was wonderful in this, I think it's his best performance period.

I dunno about that as his performance in T1 won't ever be topped for me, but he was very good in DF.

Like she didn’t have eyes or something? And she played it so cool and badass, like ok, whatever, no biggie, I’ll get another chance - is that what an experienced terminator hunter would do? Come on, I know you like it and you will defend it like a T-101, I would do too, but to me it all looked like a big illogical mess.
