would they still have access to the scans though? took forever for synapse to restore for the bd but got the 4k out fairly quick.

even if not hdr, i would still be cool with them. did color out of space have hdr? that looked really good.

If you mean Suspiria then that was actually restored in 4K though, it just needed an HDR pass. Whereas plenty of these recent "4K scans" from Arrow were finished at 2K.

As long as the raw scan data was archived then they could go back to it, but they'd still have to restore it from scratch in the 4K domain. The SDR grade would shirley have been stored as metadata but the HDR grade would also need to be done from scratch.

Arrow is usually transparent when saying a film is restored in 4K versus a 4K scan being created but the restoration was done in 2K.

I can confirm both Donnie Darko and (the upcoming) Southland Tales have 4K DIs available. I don’t know where other titles sit.

Eh. The ones that are in 4K always say "4K restoration from a new scan of [whatever]", but in recent years they've used the woolier "new restoration from a 4K scan of [whatever]" and neglect to mention the 2K part. It's a bit cheeky of them, but they seem to have gone back to mentioning the 2K part now.

I think it's WELCOMEAB35. I see people talking about it on SlickDeals and Twitter, anyway.

I tried to use it on Pitch Black and the Flash Gordon LE, but no dice for me. Apparently it’s a YMMV kinda coupon.

Agreed, if these historically follow the pricing of other Arrow releases, the prices will drop before release day.

It’s absurdly expensive at Amazon. Now yes the price might come down but Diabolik has it for $15 less.

Please. They aren’t like they used to be. Environmentalist (like myself) have problem with it. Guess you don’t care about the planet? Ok then.

Sure if Paul Atriedes went to a prison planet, his father was assassinated as. Their planet is taken over and Riddick becomes the science fiction version Jesus. Yeah exactly the same film. Now, I will give you the production design is similar but, no, not a Dune rip off. Star Wars rips off Dune and Lensman left and right.

An Alien rip off? Only in the same way that Alien ripped off, say, A.E. Van Vogt or It! the Terror From space.

Or that any WW2 movie is a rip-off of every previous WW2 movie.

Pitch Black feels more like a riff on Tremors.

Does this mean arrow might re release some of their movies (on blu Ray) that were remastered/restored in 4K on a actual 4K disc?

Expired 6/1 -- but may have been turned off before that.

Best Buy listing is up for $19.99, but preorders aren’t active yet. Very surprised to see such a low price.

This is a personal favorite......I couldn't NOT pre-order. Currently $32.99 on DiabolikDVD. And yet, this flick is far from instant eye candy. Lots of visual challenges to navigate. I'm almost nervous to see what they're gonna do to it......But I can't help myself. Dice are rolled. I just gots to know....
